I am mentoring a prospective GC student and she needs a new job. She's bilingual (Eng&Span) and is particularly interested in cancer genetics or working with minority groups. Any job that gives her more exposure to the field would be great though! Any ideas? #GeneChat

It shouldn't matter what age you are. No one needs an AR-15 or any other assault weapon designed to massacre people. When we had an assault weapons ban from 1994-2004, mass shootings went down 43%. After it expired, mass shootings tripled. End the filibuster. Ban assault weapons.

Three weeks ago, I had a miscarriage. I was six weeks pregnant. I live in Texas, a state that has effectively banned abortions. A thread about what it is to cease to be pregnant in a state where abortions are banned:

Healthcare is a human right. Privacy is a human right. Abortion is health care and privacy, and it is a human right. No person’s life should ever be sacrificed for a pregnancy.

History tells us white, wealthy women have always had access to abortion, even when it’s illegal. This ban will disproportionately affect poor Black people and people of color, and anti-abortion lawmakers know it. Everyone deserves to make decisions about their bodies + futures.

This quote in particular broke my heart. I can only imagine the pain my GC colleagues who identify as transgender must feel from this type of hate. Please know you are valued and you have fierce allies ready to fight for change 💙❤️🤍
