Personally, I love July in academic hospitals. Everyone has a new role or responsibility. The interns are finally doing it. The attendings have a renewed focus. Idk the energy is awesome.

In residency I had a patient we transitioned to comfort care. Family asked me how long they have and I said maybe a couple days, but hard to say. Within minutes the patient proceeded to empty their bowels and died. Fear the death sh&t.
Sign 3: Patient has an uncontrollable urge for a bowel movement. Of course this can be seen in many other clinical scenarios, but when you have an extremely unwell patient who is hyperfixated on the need to have a bowel movement, take note. Why? I can't explain it but have seen.

“Conditionally approved” for a 3 year trial period. It’s a triage system for identifying higher risk lesions to reduce wait times to see a dermatologist. Jobs taken: 0.

The impact that a great medical director can make on your job satisfaction cannot be overestimated. My feelings of job satisfaction, support, and security are miles ahead of my last job. Doesn’t even compare.

I've been grading OSCEs and I'm concerned we aren't teaching students about appropriate tests and reducing waste. It's an MSK injury yet many want a CBC to 'rule out infection or bleeding.' Other times labs are just casually tacked on like that's just what should be done.
