If you’ve never tested the performance of your data model, now is the easiest time to start. We just released DAX Optimizer Basic, a version that requires zero setup: No account, no installation, no credit card, nothing. You simply paste the result of a diagnostic query into

I am glad to announce 𝗗𝗔𝗫 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰! You can now test your semantic model 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲, without installing anything or paying upfront! 𝗡𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗻𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗻𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱. https://t.co/DI6H512TGr

It's also quite comforting that some problems are frustrating to both me AND claude!

Being told "you're absolutely right!" about 200 times per day, is pretty comforting. On an related note, I don't think AI is going to make any of us unemployed any time soon...

Whoever invents a debugging tool for pipelines in @AzureDevOps is going to become rich and famous. This "workflow" of making tiny adjustments to your YAML, only to watch it fail 5-10 minutes later, ad nauseum, has got to stop. /end rant

FYI: You can refresh your model or tables in Power BI Desktop from Tabular Editor 3, now. While this refresh is happening, you can continue working in Tabular Editor 3 OR Power BI Desktop, uninterrupted. You can monitor the refresh progress and cancel it from TE3, too.

Can I just take a moment to show my appreciation for @mkristensen and the Visual Studio team? I'm using the VS 2026 Insiders build every day now, and it simply phenomenal! So, so much faster when loading our solutions, switching git branches, etc. It's such a joy to work with!

If you're having issues connecting to the XMLA endpoints of Power BI / Fabric or Azure Analysis Services, it may be due to missing DLL files. Tabular Editor 2.27.1, just released a few moments ago, fixes this issue:
github.com
Windows installer: TabularEditor.2.27.1.Installer.msi SHA256: 54307E8A1F1C81259FCE5CB0C63523B49F043F5147B90C676CF2D972762DD50C Portable version: TabularEditor.2.27.1.zip SHA256: 05141FC996392EC...

New release of #TabularEditor 2, with full support for DAX UDFs and Calendars. I also added an "Import from TMDL" option, making it easy to integrate packages of UDFs from https://t.co/4ZFSFYep9Y. Get it here: https://t.co/0fOXQZtNcc #PowerBI #SSAS #AzureAS

Here's some examples of how Tabular Editor 3 can help you write DAX functions. Definitely enjoying this experience. https://t.co/921vqFB0lu

DAX user-defined functions are available in Power BI. They let you re-use DAX code, logic, and values.

We finally have 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿-𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗨𝗗𝗙) in DAX! Don't make mistakes; this is not a user data function in Fabric. This is a new DAX feature, the most important one in the last five years. First article and video to introduce how UDFs in DAX work.

Did you know that we have free Power BI video trainings for upskilling with semantic models? https://t.co/grWLWmJUat These first two are about the TMDL view and Notebooks. We also have a detailed TE3 training. For beginners, there's a course that intros you to semantic models.

Power BI Desktop hardening! You can now make any changes from external tools or the TMDL view. Super exciting change. Finally all those C# scripts in Tabular Editor work on your Power BI Desktop models, too!

You can get more done with tools like the TMDL view, Tabular Editor, and notebooks (semantic link / labs). They help you scale your tasks both within and across semantic models. We discuss how in this free article, linked below. #powerbi #microsoftfabric
