Things you will never regret doing as a DJ. - Going to see other DJs.- Organising your music library 20 minutes a day.- Practicing on your decks 1 hour a week.- Saying NO to bookings you don't want to do.- Recording your live sets and listening to them back. Do more of these.

DJs . When you learnt to DJ . Did you actually learn about song structure?. Im curious to know if newer DJs know that hooks are usually 8 bars long and verses are 16 (for rnb and hiphop anyway). Planning a YouTube video so I’m curious.

DJs . Networking with other DJs and building a friendship with them will actually help you get more bookings. The amount of bookings I’ve got because a DJ has been double booked or the DJ isn’t suited for the booking is mad . It’s not “cringe” to network. Trust me.

DJs . If you want to try out the serato beta (at home). Rename your current serato application to Serato DJ Pro (Current). THEN. Download the beta then rename the Serato application on your computer to Serato DJ Pro (3.0.0) . that way you can have both and you can check the beta.

Yes. But be prepared to not be DJing infront of 1000 people straight away. Too many new DJs see others playing infront of big crowds every week and just assume they got that overnight . Work hard and actually love the art of DJing then it will be “worth it”.

DJs.Buy a USB.Put all your music on it.Stash it at your parents, partners, best friends house.If you happen to lose all your music on your laptop you have a backup in another location. might not be up to date but its better than starting from scratch. Currently doing 2 USBs now.

So I have thought of another way to help DJs,.I know its hard to keep up to date with all the new music thats coming out so I have built something that gets all the latest music that comes out on a friday and puts it into spotify playlists so we can listen to them in the car etc.

I had a meeting with a DJ last night he had 85000 tracks at the start. By the end we got to 9000 that he’s now gonna organise. And it was all because we looked at the DJs play count. He had 70000+ tracks that he’s NEVER played lol. So we are gonna organise the music he’s.

Every DJ needs to practice no matter what level. There’s always new stuff to learn. New tricks, new transitions, new mixes. If you don’t you’ll just become stale.
Crazy how a DJ can be 20 years in the industry and still think they need to practice and Im over here in my 4th year still thinking I also need to practice.
