NC is wild. We elected a Democratic Governor, a democratic LT Governor, a democratic Attorney General, and a democrat superintendent of public education and broke the supermajority in the General Assembly, but people still voted for Trump…
BREAKING: It appears North Carolina Democrats will break the GOP supermajority in the #ncga. Unofficial results show incumbent Republican Ken Fontenot losing to Democrat Dante Pittman. Huge win for Democrats and governor-elect Josh Stein. #ncpol

Picking up the paper today was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had at UNC. I am SO proud of our newsroom - and can't believe the idea I have had since May has come to life in such a beautiful way. This issue holds such important coverage — so give it a read!
The front page of today's paper. The DEl edition, features 27 stories and columns all with a DEl angle, hoping to provide context on DEl in the UNC system, UNC and North Carolina. Check out the online version of the issue here: https://t.co/JYcjn5g58c

The event is being held at the Chapel Hill Post No. 6 American Legion, about a 15 minute drive from UNC campus. Media has been asked to depart by 9:30, with organizers saying the event ends at that time. Aaron Lewis, American musician, is preforming for a crowd of 100-150.
At "Flagstock 2024" for @dailytarheel Organizers said about 1000 people were expected, the crowd looks to be about 200-300 people. Things kicked off with the playing of the national anthem, planes overhead and a speech celebrating UNC Fraternity members actions on April 30.

The majority of the crowd does not appear to be members of the student body, with some UNC fraternities discouraging people from attending prior to the event.

I couldn't be more thrilled to reintroduce this desk to our newsroom. There's truly no one better suited than @_aishabee_ to lead special projects and bring our vision for an in-depth, long-form investigative reporting desk to life.
COLUMN: "We have let our most ambitious and experienced reporters come together and follow their instincts with the full support of the paper behind them," Aisha Baiocchi writes. Read the full column: "Special Projects Desk is back"

Yesterday was my final day as @dailytarheel’s City & State editor. Hundreds of editing sessions, dozens of breakings and a whole lot of long days led me here — so I wrote a farewell column to capture my feelings. My 123rd — and final — DTH byline: https://t.co/OCTJiLYQcM

Young Americans have written, protested, organized, and run for office to get the attention of politicians who only offer thoughts and prayers. I stand with them in continuing to take action and repeating my call to Congress: Send commonsense gun reforms to my desk.
OP-ED: "Students are taught to love a country that values guns over our lives," Andrew Sun and Alexander Denza write. Read the full Op-ed: "We will not wait for the next school shooting" https://t.co/VVSNWTnmLo

In a wild turn of events for a student journalist, today, I interviewed @NC_Governor Roy Cooper. Read the conversation below — he reveals his Cook Out tray, for those wondering. Video highlights to come. My (pretty surreal) latest @dailytarheel #ncpol: https://t.co/g6UEoaRFRd
