Throughout my entire career, I have worked to make our communities safer. Our Administration has taken bold steps to end the epidemic of gun violence, but there is more work to do to save lives. We need an assault weapons ban, red flag laws, and universal background checks.

I was proud to lead the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. I have met with survivors, advocates, students, and families who have been impacted by gun violence. I will always stand alongside them in the fight to save lives.

President Biden and I took historic action to save lives and address the gun violence epidemic with our Bipartisan Safer Communities Act — the most significant gun safety law in nearly 30 years.

The Equal Rights Amendment is the 28th Amendment, and it is the law of the land.

Today, President Biden granted clemency to nearly 2,500 people convicted of non-violent drug offenses. @POTUS and I believe in the power of redemption. This action corrects sentencing disparities and is an important step toward righting historic wrongs.

Doulas like Venus understand the importance of postpartum care. In 2021, I challenged states to extend Medicaid postpartum coverage from 2 months to 12. Now, 47 states have answered the call, and more women and children are receiving the care they need.

I have spent my career fighting for the health and wellbeing of women and children, and I always will.

From day one, President Biden and I have fought to protect and strengthen the Affordable Care Act, which provides critical maternal and prenatal health care for families across the country.

We launched the Maternal Mental Health Hotline, which is free, confidential, and available 24/7. By calling 1-833-TLC-MAMA, mothers can connect with professionals to receive mental health resources and support before, during, and after pregnancy.

Our Administration has taken action to help ensure every woman has the maternal health care she needs to thrive. We released and implemented a Blueprint for Addressing the Maternal Health Crisis, which contained over 50 actions to help improve maternal care across the country.
