Ryan's right, nobody says they'll defund public healthcare, that would be political suicide. Instead, conservatives undermine public systems by privatizing key functions, invariably increasing costs (and public spending) while lowering quality of care (e.g. Dynalife). 1/3
Nobody’s talking about defunding public healthcare in Canada. I can’t be the only one watching loved ones fly to Ontario and Arizona and Mexico for surgery and cancer care. It makes NO sense to deny Albertans that same option here at home.

Michael Parenti (1933-2026) died today. He has, as his son Christian said, 'gone to the Great Lecture Hall in the Sky'. A socialist from early into his life till the very end, Michael Parenti wrote in a feisty way and spoke bluntly the truths that were not always easy to digest

Modern conservativism is really just institutionalized selfishness.
Canadians are experiencing widespread compassion fatigue. We are exhausted by the constant calls for global empathy while domestic poverty and hunger have become normalized. Food bank usage has spiked with 1 in 4 people affected.

I am at the UCP AGM to vote against the very bad idea that is no fault insurance.

By this rationale, we should ban churches to protect children from religious indoctrination.
Ten years ago if you said we need legislation like this to protect children, you would have been scorned as an alarmist. Adults have the right to alter their bodies, chemically or surgically. And children have a right to be protected. Alberta joins other jurisdictions doing this.

Insurance companies will tell you they are struggling, but their stock prices tell a different story. They have successfully lobbied provincial governments to implement no-fault insurance, which will inflate their profits even further while taking away your right to sue. #ableg
Alberta’s auto insurance market is in crisis and many drivers are struggling to secure coverage. Government must act fast to end the rate cap before more damage is caused. Learn more:

We pretend to be a democracy that values opposing views, but in fact parties are gatekeepers of orthodoxy that ostracize dissenters like Rod Loyola and Sarah Jama who speak uncomfortable truths. Meanwhile, genocide apologists like Anthony Housefather can say whatever they want.

The allegations against multiple @Alberta_UCP MLAs in this expertly-drafted statement of claim are absolutely jaw-dropping, banana republic-level corruption.
For those interested in the full statement of claim submitted by Mentzelopoulos, City News (Toronto) has published it in its entirety here: https://t.co/2E4uSHGyah

I would suggest that if the Senator truly values democracy, he could demonstrate his commitment by allowing replies to his posts.

How should the rest of the world respond to the past 30 years of the West overthrowing governments and slaughtering millions from Libya to Gaza to Afghanistan? Sit back and wait for their turn?

What the unelected Senator fails to grasp is that provocations and threats from the "democratic" West, led by US oligarchs, have been the driving force behind the formation of these "autocratic regimes" and the deepening of these alliances.
Democracy is in peril all across the world as autocratic regimes form deeper and more sinister alliances.
