Our penultimate #CurlewAdvent for 2024 is a gut-wrenching one: the Slender-billed Curlew. This photograph was taken in Yemen taken in 1984 by RF Porter, with the species likely going extinct around 1995.

In 2022, the Curlew Conservation Programme undertook a small-scale pilot headstarting operation in a pre-planned and strategic manner in the form of two projects in counties Kerry and Monaghan. Donal's presentation will explain the current state of headstarting in Ireland.
