My thoughts, in the latest Listener about walking & cycling infrastructure and how it’s our kids that miss out as the govt cut these budgets. So much time is spent fighting against spending on these projects when, only 1% of our transport budget is dedicated to walking cycling.

That moment when the Abernethy Bike Bus joins with the Clinton Bike Bus at Ladd Circle is something everyone should witness at least once in their lifetime. One of the Seven Wonders if the Modern World 🤣🚲🚌🚌❤️. @BikeBusWorld @CoachBalto

Outstanding outcome. Council/port/union working together to lift port returns, open up public space, & preserve public ownership. Mayor @MayorWayneBrown has done well & it's a big win for progressive Councillors who fought to maintain public ownership.

You can't make this stuff up... What exactly does he think the legal system is, if not "where those with the power to do so seek to impose the beliefs and values of one section of society upon the community as a whole"? That is literally how laws work.

Tikanga is a system of beliefs, as opposed to "proper law", says Gary Judd KC. Who's gonna tell him?

NEW: London Mayor @SadiqKhan re-elected for 3rd term. Described as “divisive” & “anti-car” in the article, this is more evidence that being willing to challenge the strangle-hold that #CarDependency has on cities isn’t the political negative some think

I have a long feature in the new Listener, looking at the purge on walking and cycling infrastructure in the draft Transport GPS. It's highly out of step with the ambitions of local authorities – and with what's happening in the rest of the developed world.

Should just provide a free service with the Bike Guys, riding their little tri-shaws around. Must be easier than a temporary ferry service?
#FerryNews: Locals and tourists seem to be onboard with a plan to use a ferry while a foot-bridge across Viaduct Harbour in central Auckland is repaired, but many reckon it will still be faster to walk. Via @radionz:

‘Now that the cuts are actually happening, it doesn’t look like righteous revenge against a woke cabal of insiders. It looks like thousands of regular New Zealanders losing their jobs, and tens of thousands more stressed about the possibility’

Last night's dismal poll for the coalition shows the limits of trying to govern as an opposition.

That's weird, because @chrisluxonmp is laser-focused on the cost of living, and is busy giving tax cuts to landlards so that they can pass those savings on to renters. I wonder what went wrong?

How do cities turn #VisionZero into #ZeroVision? Wasting very scarce $$$ with ageist signs (seniors?) in middle of a bridge! And different max speed in same streets on same neighborhood. Btw what age is senior? Olders do NOT need signs, all ages with disabilities do. #Waste!
