Cheshire East Council's former deputy leader has said an elected mayor is “neither welcome nor necessary” for #Cheshire. Craig Browne who's an Independent councillor stepped down as deputy leader last year. He believes a mayor would be another layer of bureaucracy.

This morning I joined third sector CEOs on a call with Stephanie Peacock MP, Minister Civil Society. I raised the issue of the 6.7% increase in the NMW when most funding contracts only build in 2.3% for CPI inflation and how the third sector can be expected to bridge the gap.

The thieves returned to #AlderleyEdge overnight and stole every one of our stone planters, damaging the Cenotaph in the process. So much for a tribute to those who gave their lives in battle. I hope @cheshirepolice @CheshirePCC are going to follow up on my report.

This evening I challenged two men apparently stealing the stone planters from #AlderleyEdge cenotaph. Claimed to work for Manchester City Council so I pointed out they were in @CheshireEast and reported them to @cheshirepolice They promptly left in a Toyota pickup G306 SKL.

Attended my first @CitizensAdvice Annual Conference today. First session reminded me of being at the Local Government Association all over again. Second session discussed emerging issues and finally the social impact and value added of the service in our communities.
