Todays picket at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham🪧 £22.67/hr is not an unreasonable ask. Doctors have subsidised the NHS for far too long. Perhaps @wesstreeting needs reminding that the power to stop these strikes lies squarely with the government. @BMAResidents

Dr Brown spoke with the BBC at our picket. She wants to become an A&E Consultant. However, last year 14 doctors applied per A&E training place and she was unsuccessful. It is a disgrace that patients are waiting hours in A&E, when doctors like Poppy are locked out of training.

Todays Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham picket☔️ It is absurd doctors are struggling find work, yet patients cannot see a GP and are waiting hours in A&E It’s pretty simple @wesstreeting. Resolve the jobs crisis, commit to restoring our pay and we need not strike another day

Resident doctors in the West Midlands! Join us outside the QE Hospital this Friday 14th between 8am and 11am for our regional picket line. There is still time for these strikes to be called off if @wesstreeting comes forward with a credible offer on pay and jobs.

If the government was serious about cutting waiting lists, they would not hold any potential additional training places to ransom. We need substantially more training places than what’s on offer and doctors who have trained here should be prioritised in this recruitment cycle.

What’s ’completely absurd’ is the fact we have unemployed doctors, yet ever growing waiting lists. If the government was serious about cutting them, they would expand the number of specialty training places, so we have more consultants to see patients and no doctors unemployed.
"The BMA should call off these needless strikes, come back to the table, and give negotiations a chance." Watch Health and Social Care Secretary @WesStreeting's statement on BMA resident doctors announcing more strikes.

There are unemployed doctors in this country, whilst waiting lists are growing and patients cannot see a doctor. This is under the watch of @wesstreeting This dispute can be resolved by ending the bottleneck crisis AND ensuring the 21% pay cut doctors have received is reversed
Resident doctors strikes are completely unnecessary and irresponsible. My team and I have been talking to the BMA in good faith and are prepared to negotiate on jobs and conditions. They’ve had a 28.9% pay rise. We can’t go further now. But we can address jobs and conditions👇🏻

Wes Streeting has failed to commit to concrete proposals on pay or jobs. We are left with no choice but to strike. We will strike between 07:00 Friday 14th November and 06:59 Wednesday 19th November. This will be a full walkout.

I am standing for Communications Officer and visited Good Hope Hospital today, to talk to doctors. As a team, we helped overturn the locum rate cuts @uhbtrust, where I am a rep. I also met with Prof Leng 1 on 1 during her review into Physician Assistants.

Ossama Elshukri is standing for Deputy Chair and has been a rep in the Black Country. He has campaigned throughout the strike ballots for pay restoration. As a team we will continue to ensure we have strong mandates for strike action, should we need to ballot again. @shukuriii

King Charles wasn’t the only visitor @MidlandMetUH today. Thomas Rourke, who is standing for Exec Officer, was there meeting doctors too. He has done work to ensure doctors receive their contractural right to an additional 5 days of annual leave after 5 years of NHS experience.

Check your inbox for an update on negotiations. @DrBeckyl from RDC gives her cautiously optimistic take. Strikes got your reps in the room. Calling a strike once we’re in negotiations simply stalls the progress we are making; but if talks break down your co-chairs won’t hesitate
