@binarythis Indigenous Studies Unit in the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health: we unequivocally disassociate ourselves from the anti-Trans hate coming from a Faculty staff member at this university. We abhor this ignorant form of hate and prejudice. @uommedia @ArtsUnimelb Stop!

Favourite quote from today's protest, this on the chutzpah of having a TERF teach a course on Feminism: "It's not about difference of opinion. This is the equivalent of the University assigning a Geography course to a flat-Earther".

Profit comes despite cutting hundreds of jobs, losing thousands of international students and weathering what the university predicts will be a three-year, $900 million revenue downturn.

I'm so sorry for Melbourne Uni staff, students and the broader trans community. The promotion of hate speech in the form of university work that would not pass an ethics sniff test, should be something @unimelb takes very seriously.
So a senior academic at my university has launched this website where you can "anonymously" send in stories of trans women harming cis women (she refers to trans women as men throughout). How can we stop this nonsense 😫

I don't see how letting what actually is a generation of academic workers pretty much fall off the map if they're not funded by God or their parent's building society is not the remit of a trade union.

Solidarity to all PGRs, especially those who are anxious about the coming months and for whom their PhD is the least of their concerns. You are not alone ☺️
