State Rep @WesVirdellTX of Brady, who represents Kerrville, was one of few #txlege House members who voted against funding for local siren and emergency communication systems, according to @SBellsnyder. The House OKed funding, but the Senate ignored it.

I’m hopeful that meaningful reform can take place. It saddens me to see statements like this, that pit public education experts and advocates against our legislature, instead of taking constructive feedback for what it is: us trying to work diligently with our legislature for
Here's the true story with what happened to HB 4, the STAAR test replacement bill. The Senate and the House had a very good CCR, (Conference Committee Report), that combined the proposed three test replacement House Bill pattern for the STAAR test with the upgraded language in my

Grateful for all the educators and supporters of #txed this primary season will be interesting! #txlege
What #txlege fails to understand is that the special allotments were meant to help balance inequities in the funding system they were not designed to be used as "strategic investments" to incentivize or mandate how districts must spend local education dollars. For many years,

I am looking forward to seeing the states A-F system being applied to private schools who receive vouchers. Our state leaders ague that what gets measured is what gets fixed. I doubt private schools will welcome state oversight. You take the money, you accept the accountability

It’s amazing how this one issue (ESA’s/vouchers) is unifying conservatives across the state. One thing is clear, Republicans want public education fixed, not privatized. Growing government and creeping into the homeschool community is not the answer either. Republicans are

As the kids say…Bet We 💜 our community schools
I dare anyone to travel through rural Texas and tell hardworking parents and community members that their kiddos are stuck in "failling government schools." In fact, I could be convinced to contribute to a GoFundMe campaign for a bus that would take Corey, Greg, and anyone else

This documentary was so well done. I highly encourage anyone who wants to get more informed on the attack against public education to watch it. One common theme, Republican, Democrat, Independent, we all come together to do what’s best for kids and this documentary captures that
When our institutions of learning seem to be engulfed in flames, @KASNYDERFILMS new documentary The Librarians @ALALibrary reminds us how we got here and reveals, perhaps, how we can get out. Featuring @CourtGore @abmack33 @sassy_librarian.

When they (the oligarchs) want to ban taxpayer funded lobbying. It really means that they want to silence local governments so they’re the only ones that have any influence https://t.co/Tgy0ddwIrW

Forget about if you support vouchers or not. After reading this cliff note version of the LBB tax impact, can anyone please explain to me how HB3 can possibly be passed as fiscally conservative legislation??!! @FairlyForTexas @GregAbbott_TX @Burrows4TX @BradBuckleyDVM

Now here’s an idea!
In the past, #txlege allowed ISDs to give businesses HUGE property tax breaks to make things more affordable. It’s past time we allow ISDs to do the same for educators who live in their ISD. Grateful to @VoteLuluFlores for filing HJR 23 + HB 266 to make this idea real!

Here’s a poll for you. They say government is run by those who show up. Well, these people showed up…will they listen? #txed #txlege
More than 12,500 public comments over 2,995 pages submitted on HB3. The Comments are Overwhelmingly opposed. A Capitol Insider tells me “I have never seen anything like it.” #txkege #txed
