Personal opinion. They overdid it, thereβs no need to copy to that level, they shouldβve done something like Japanese anime and vidya set in present or future, that reuses classical European architecture in more grandiose ways, like Code Geass and LOGH

Remarkable photo If I'm right this is the same Cishou Pagoda located just outside the 3rd Ring Road (not far from central Beijing today) As can be seen from modern photos, the area around is completely unrecognizable. Hard to believe it used to look like a desert with camels
