This is the kind of willful blindness Calvinists engage in all the time. According to Sproul, Peter is writing this letter to the elect — people he supposedly knows are chosen to be saved, unable to resist God’s grace — and warning them that if they should once again become.

R.C. Sproul beautifully explains 2 Peter 3:9: . "A passage you hear all the time: 'God is not willing that any should perish.' I'm bloodied and bruised from being hit with that verse. Peter's clearly teaching that God is not willing that any of the Elect should perish."

“So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires,” is not the Gospel. That message is in no way ‘good news.’.

I don’t think being “raptured” at the end of days is necessarily a good thing:. Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, “Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.”.— Matthew.

Questions for Calvinists. If God created angels with perfect natures and ordains all events, why did Satan become evil?. If Satan’s evil actions serve God’s good purposes, why allow such evil if God could achieve those purposes by other means? Does God need evil?. If all of.

FYI: Calvinists deploy “sovereignty” as a motte-and-bailey rhetorical strategy. Motte: Ultimate divine authority . Bailey: “All events are governed by God’s secret plan.” (Institutes 1.16.2). The motte is Scriptural and the analogy fits. The bailey… not so much.

The orans posture is reserved only for priests. Praying this way as the laity is a violation of the liturgical rule.

Did God regenerate Adam immediately before or after He called out “Where are you?”. Did He regenerate Eve at the same moment or did He wait until He asked her “What is this you have done?”.

“There are progressions in which the last step is sui generis—incommensurable with the others—and in which to go the whole way is to undo all the labour of your previous journey.”. The deprecation of virtue in Man is just such a progression. The last step, instead of glorifying.

Do Calvinists truly not know about Calvin’s own chain of reasoning? Or do they just pretend not to know?. Total inability requires election to enable faith in God, that election is unconditional necessarily, it is therefore determined before creation, and thus all things (good.

Calvinists seem to think that Total Depravity is a pious humility. “We are so evil, we cannot even want God’s love until He implants it in us.”. But this zealous humility by logical necessity puts our evil down on God’s side of the ledger.

Controversial opinion: Christian women shouldn’t wear bikinis with the intention of inciting lust in those who see them. Also, Christian men shouldn’t lust after women because they are wearing bikinis. Legalism misses the whole point.

Sin is real and universal, but total inability? It simply is not present in Scripture. It was present in Augustine’s head and heart, a byproduct of his Manichaean studies and his zealous opposition to Pelagius. Calvin developed it into Total Depravity not because it was so.

If Total Depravity is the product of a pessimistic lens pointed at Scripture rather than Scripture standing alone, then the rest of the systematic’s doctrines simply fall away. If we can answer God’s call, then unconditional election, determinism, limited atonement, and.

The Eastern Orthodox view sin as a wound, not total guilt (Ezekiel 18:20), with the imago Dei (Genesis 9:6) enabling cooperation (Philippians 2:12-13). Arminians see sin as universal (Romans 3:23) but lifted by prevenient grace (John 1:9). Both dodge Augustine’s heavy yoke.
