My sister who happens to be a fully qualified nurse applied for a job as a part time Covid swabber and they looked for her Leaving Cert results. For feck sake

🤷🏻♂️
This is hate speech. Whoever was distributing this in Limerick should be prosecuted.
@gardainfo
need to swiftly investigate this and whomever is responsible needs to held to account.
We need to see the hate speech bill enacted as a matter of urgency this Autumn!
I haven’t found the words for the last few days, two people were murdered at home because they arranged to meet someone on a dating app, I have had to remove myself from apps before due to threatening messages I got because I am an LGBT public rep. May Michael and Arthur RIP.
1/ Today I attended a protest on Bedford Row in Limerick against male violence against women. A group of men called the “mens rosary” stood alongside us chanting loudly Catholic prayers.
132 people on trolleys in
@ULHospitals
including my 87 year old grandad who there since Thursday, moved several times and is on a corridor at the age of 87 in A&E. There are 7 elderly people on the same corridor. He is frail and confused. This is a complete failure by Government.
4/This Irish Mens Rosary are normally on Thomas St but they moved to Bedford Row specifically to disrupt this demo against gender violence. They tried to drown out each woman who stood up to speak. No compassion or humanity just misogyny. Disgusting!
3/ There must have been at least 15 men chanting Catholic prayers very loudly and while they may call themselves Catholic, their behaviour was one of the most unchristian things I have ever witnessed.
We are delighted to have completed phase 1 of our regeneration project in Moyross. 14 homes are now being prepared for allocation to local families. The project is being delivered with the support of
@LimerickCouncil
and
@DeptHousingIRL
My 87 year old grandad Is now in a chair in a geriatric ward. He was supposed to be transferred to Croom. We now don’t know if he is staying in UHL or going to Croom. He is now 96 hours in UHL. People over the age of 80 are supposed to be admitted to a bed within 36 hours.

This is a person. A human being who you have just compared to a dog.
Stop weaponising trans and non-binary people as part of a culture war.
Show some decency and humanity and stop spouting nonsense off the internet about something you know nothing about.
Where does it stop? 8 year old kids have to address the teacher as 'THEY'. Will we have someone identify as a cocker spaniel and demand to be greeted with a woff. For God's sake, stop this madness.
It’s not the fault of people coming here that our health service is on its knees. In fact it’s the complete opposite, they are the nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants, porters.
2/ One of the organisers went over and politely explained what the demo was about and if they would mind taking their rosary across the street. In response to that they turned their sound system up louder to try and drown us out.
My first thought after the weekend, what about all the young “unvetted” Irish men in Australia, Canada, the UAE...They all migrated for a better life as generations of Irish did & do.
They are our sons, friends, brothers and cousins.
Migration is a fact of life, the world over.
Many women my age have sons and grandsons. It's time we accepted that every young single man is some mother's son, a part of someone's family. Can we please stop frightening ourselves and our neighbours with insinuations and spurious scare stories?
#RefugeesWelcome
I find this very upsetting. The hatred and the homophobia. One of the best things about Irish politics is the accessibility of our public representatives. We are going to end up with a TD dead if this continues.
This is so ageist and ableist. I’m tearing my hair out trying to help people who can’t access revenue online and can’t get them to answer the phone either! Covid has made digital exclusion so much worse.
I feel desperately sorry for the poor child at the centre of this unwanted and unwarranted media storm. Trans people face so much abuse, inequality and discrimination. The very least they deserve is to be treated with basic respect and decency 🏳️⚧️
I’m loving all the straight men in my mentions defending MHR’s use of the word “fairy”. Language is important. The context in which it was said is irrelevant. Just apologise!

This is what leadership looks like. Reaching across out of your comfort zone.
Comparing this guy to the DUP leadership is like comparing an iPhone to two soup cans on a string.

for our children and young people through a single education system.
In years to come we will look back shamefully on how we allowed trans people to be used as a political football in the same way we regard the past treatment of LGBTQI+ people.
IRFU need to look again in conjunction those who are affected by this policy change & do more research.
An Irish transgender rugby player says she cannot play the game she loves, following a recent decision to prevent transgender women from playing female contact rugby

Here’s a thought, if you put enough money into public transport to make it work properly and put enough money into safe segregated cycling infrastructure most families would actually consider getting rid of their second car
Minister Richard Bruton said motorists, who might be planning to buy petrol or diesel cars from next month, should reassess their decision and consider purchasing electric vehicles despite the more expensive price tag.
If you have to wear a crash helmet and dress like a baggage handler on the runway of an airport then the infrastructure is insufficient and not conducive to safe cycling, I was in the Netherlands recently, 70%+ journeys done by bike, safely without a helmet or high vis in sight
Disappointed but undeterred. The campaign for

Women must be allowed access healthcare in privacy and dignity.
I will table another motion for the July meeting.

This is my sister, a student nurse starting her internship this week in a Dublin hospital. Given the scale of the covid surge, she deserves to be paid more than €10.70 an hour and all student nurses should be paid for their work

When
@DuncanSmithTD
raised the exploitation of MII workers in meat factories with then Minister Michael Creed, his was dismissed and told “The Deputy is entitled to his own opinion but he is not entitled to his own facts.“
80 staff at one factory test positive today.
I have huge concerns in relation to exploitation of migrant workers in our meat and growing industries. We have more than exceded an acceptable threshold for a working group to be set up to investigate the industry. The Minister for Agriculture disagreed.

Thanks
@irishexaminer
for letting me tell my story.
Govt talk about 🏡 like a chronic illness, it’s not. It’s about choice, you choose to tackle it or repeat what continues to fail.
I ran for election as my generation are not represented with decisions made for us without us.
If the Government really wants to solve the housing crisis, then they need a clean break from the private developer-led approach that has so obviously failed, writes
@ConorSheehan93
My motion was taken off the agenda for today’s meeting. I have raised this on a point of order, I don’t agree with this at all. This is a legitimate motion, it’s not legally contentious. It may be divisive but let us debate it!

Our city centre is dying on its feet. We need to challenge the innate conservatism in city hall. We’re not going to revitalise Limerick unless we change how we image the city centre and that involves making brave decisions.
Powerful speech from
@PhelanVicky
accepting the Freedom of Limerick outlining the outstanding issues with Cervical Check and asks the Taoiseach and Govt to take a hard look at themselves and to implement the remaining recommendations of the Scally Review.
I am announcing my intention to seek the
@labour
nomination to be the first Directly Elected Mayor of Limerick.
This is an exciting time for our city and county.
I want to run to stand up for people my age who are forced to emigrate due to the housing crisis.

I wasn’t born into

, I chose it. It is the best vehicle for change that we have.
I am proud of what we have achieved but there is more to do.
Between now & June 7th, we will fight for every single vote.
Let’s finish the job 🌹
Disgusted to see a Limerick City TD scurrying along to an anti immigration protest outside a primary school that the school community & residents said they categorically do not want. As public reps we have a duty to behave responsibly & not to inflame an already tense situation.
I’d rather objective informed sex education over listening to the lunatic priest who stood shoulder to shoulder with and hugged a convicted sex offender and also objects to my right to exist as a gay man.
I also expect better from those who are privileged to sit in the Seanad!
Finally someone standing up to this absolute nonsense. Where are all our religious leaders on this? Our government has been captured by all these left wing

They have sold parents out. I would hate to be a parent today trying to navigate parenthood with all this ideology
As an LGBTQI + person, I’m proud to have someone like
@rodericogorman
in Government.
This stuff is dangerous if left unchallenged. We are under attack all over Europe and this dog whistle homophobia needs to be called out 🏳️🌈
“This has an impact on other people - vulnerable people - and that can be immense.”

At a time of rising anti-LGBTI+ violence across Europe, that funding is needed more than ever 👇

is a powerhouse. Could the Government not honestly show some compassion and take the request of the 221+ group on board so these people do not have to spend whatever time they have left constantly battling the state

The rainbow crossings were a small but significant expression of solidarity by the Council.
2022 was the most dangerous year for LGBTQ+ people for more than a decade.
This type of headline will only incite and encourage homophobia.

Shannon Bridge cycle lane very busy today. (No photo because I was moving quickly) Lost count of the amount of people walking and cycling on the bridge. Will be fighting with every fibre of my being to ensure it stays. Build it and they will come.
My favourite memory of Cormac is when I got a notion during the local elections that I was going to superimpose my head onto the Spice Girls for an ad, many said it was daft but Cormac actually convinced me not to by pointing out that Geri Haliwell was a Tory

Please consider taking your family to see King John’s castle this summer.
We need to support our castle in this difficult period without international tourists.
It is important to note that the students engaged in tonight’s scenes represent a small but vocal minority of the

for slurring our wonderful city. Limerick has come on leaps and bounds in the last decade.
Our city is a good place to invest, work and live. We are proud of the Collison brothers.
I thought we had moved past this inaccurate stereotype
Very proud of our Maggie who was awarded a long service award at Labour Conference.
Maggie worked for 30 years for Jim Kemmy and Jan O’Sullivan.
For years she was the friendly face and kind ear that people met in Jan’s office.
She is the heart of our party

As a young Councillor and
@labour
’s youngest public rep, you could try paying us properly first and giving us a statutory entitlement to time off work in order to attend meetings. That’s often the straw that breaks the camels back and a big reason people resign/don’t run again
Absolutely honoured to be in Savannah Georgia with a deputation led by Mayor
@DanielButlerFG
and to march in the St Patricks Day Parade.
The bond between Limerick and Georgia is stronger than ever 🇺🇸 🇮🇪
Dead right. Our home addresses should not be on any ballot paper, public reps have a right to privacy. Having received threatening communications in the past, one of the things that freaks me out about public life is the fact that someone could turn up at my home unannounced.
Congratulations to
@AnneCronin5
the new chair of the Limerick

party. Looking forward to a productive year ahead with the first directly elected mayor election set to take place this Autumn 🌹
Someone celebrated her 21st today (Dáilversary not birthday) Congrats
@JanOSullivanTD
21 years a T.D today. In that time you’ve done a lot, whether in cabinet building schools in Limerick or through constituency work. I wonder how many clinics you’ve done over the years? 🌹👍😀
Today we bid a work farewell to a great colleague, comrade and friend

who is retiring to travel and hopefully devote himself full time to election punditry. We will miss him a lot, he is some man to read the tea leaves! 🌹
In off the night shift with the Debenhams workers. The picket is being manned 24/7 at the minute because the liquidators have attempted to access the premises in the middle of the night. Please pop down if you can. These workers deserve a fair settlement
