Many people in the Northeast encounter #ticks in their own yards! If you find one, you can get it tested through your local CT health department.

Fran is all packed for her public appearance this weekend @EB_Entsoc! The “It’s a Bug’s World” Expo is going to be super fun, plus how often do you get to hang out with a #tick that’s nearly 8 feet tall?! She’s #FranTick to meet you so we hope to see you there! #Providence

Did you know...blacklegged ticks are especially at home in backyards that have forested edges? Practice tick bite prevention every time you head outside. #hottip #homesweethome #ticks

Too cold for field work but our super @wcsu411 friends made VR tick collecting so we could pretend, at room temp. Would tell you more but you don’t want to hear about tech from someone who required the help of 2 academics to get this head thingy on. #GettinTickyWitIt

Our @tickbrittany put some adult blacklegged ticks on white and black shirts to show folks how hard it is to detect ticks on dark clothing. She made a cool video too, which you can check out on our lab FB page: https://t.co/BNF8eUO7Yk #hottip #ticks #Lymeprevention #tickfashion

Treat clothes with permethrin before clearing/playing in the leaves this fall. It repels #ticks and stays on clothes after several washings...so you can wear your tick-repellent #permethrin clothing all season long. Prevents bites too, like in this study: https://t.co/XKY1hRhm6j

Use your dryer at home to kill blacklegged ticks! After spending time outdoors, put your clothing directly into the dryer on high heat for 10 minutes! The high heat causes ticks to dry out and die. How do we know? The science says so! https://t.co/52XjlHlCNi

Showering or bathing within 2 hours after being outdoors can prevent #Lyme disease. It gives you time to do a thorough #tick check and the water may wash off any unattached ticks. See the #science behind this tip: https://t.co/XKHXA3GVvN
