Gràcies @OdichitalArgns! Minority language promotion starts with protecting vernacular communities. Language promotion with vernacular community protection requires reinforcing the social geography of the day-to-day practice of minority languages and their lived social culture.
Conchúr Ó Giollagáin @ConchurOG: "As luengas minorizatas han de reforzar es suyos bastions, as zonas do se fabla de verdat".

Neo-liberal minority-language policies and politics made this desocietalised syndrome inevitable. In ignoring the societal decline of the language minorities, minority-language officialdom prioritised defending its bureaucratic mechanisms rather than minority communities.
Actualment, "les polítiques lingüístiques garanteixen la supervivència. de les polítiques lingüístiques" (@ConchurOG).

Good point about the foundational DQ.
@ConchurOG @uema_eus @npldeu @EUROLANG @mercatornetwork @MercatorCentre @ThinkUHI @ForasnaGaeilge @MisneachdAlba @FisanPhobail @FerranSuay Interesting article. Applying it to “my world” of Aranese, I see that without strong DQ1 foundations, DQ2–4 cannot meaningfully sustain long-term vitality. Civic efforts must reinforce and incentivize home transmission, not just public usage.

Analysis of #ScottishLanguagesBill "official and academic failure to engage sincerely with the reality check which the #GaelicCrisis evidence engendered is also implicated in this misguided legislation . a rebuff to the remaining #Gaelic communities.".
scotsman.com
The Scottish Languages Bill is simply a rehash of the status quo, writes Professor Conchúr Ó Giollagáin, the co-author of a landmark study published in 2020
On the 5th anniversary of the publication of the #GaelicCrisis study, we enquire what concrete steps have been taken to address the ongoing social decline of #Scotland's native speaking #Gaelic communities? #ScottishLanguagesBill does not address this.
