"We got cancelled before getting cancelled was cool"
In my latest for

, I examine the legacy of the Bush-era culture war over evolution. I speak to a leading theorist of Intelligent Design and interrogate the certainties of my own youth.
It's been humbling to realize that wacko rightwingers in Huntington Beach, bikers in Sturgis, and dumb college kids on spring break were basically right about covid while 90% of the people I respected pre-2020 were disastrously wrong.
maybe the most revealing part of "What is a Woman?" is when Matt Walsh correctly points out to the creepy gender pediatrician that Lupron is the same drug used to chemically castrate sex offenders; she shuts down and accuses him of using hurtful language.

yes, I think gratuitously stunting the development of a toddler is a greater tragedy than an octogenarian dying a natural death.
we owe the elderly dignity, not immortality.
the ACLU deciding that every child has an inalienable right to be forced to wear a mask has got to be some kind of watershed moment in American legal history.
that is the moral universe of gender ideology: extreme sensitivity to language, extreme recklessness with people's bodies.
the word 'castration' is offensive, actual castration of children is wholesome and good.

it was necessary for him to take off his mask to express himself for this picture, yet facial expressions are not necessary for children learning to socialize.
being a boy who likes ballet and hates sports is now considered a medical condition that requires a new synthetic endocrine system;
a case study from the UK's Tavistock clinic
the question "do trans kids exist?" can more accurately be rephrased as "is it ever legitimate to destroy a child's endocrine system and make him or her dependent on lifelong medicalization for cosmetic reasons?"
it's not really true that we've sacrificed the young to save the lives of the old; more like we've sacrificed them to assuage the neurosis of the middle-aged.
The idea that puberty blockers simply give kids time to reflect and decide if they really want to transition is ridiculous;
if you’re actively blocking a child’s maturation then you’re also removing his ability to make a mature decision.
I now think vaccines were oversold as a way to end covid; they should have been sold as medicine to reduce the severity of covid. Those at risk of severe illness should get vaccinated. Regardless of vaccination rates, we need to end this dystopia right away and for good.
as data comes in on increased speech delays in young children, how will pediatricians who assured us there were not downsides to masking toddlers pivot?
isn't it wild that there's a city in America in which children are not allowed to show their faces when they play together outside but adults regularly shoot up heroin in broad daylight?
I don't know if a baby is directly harmed by being "breastfed" by a man; the thing I find so disturbing about it is that a helpless infant is being used to affirm an adult's fantasy - it's just such a grotesque inversion of who's supposed to be caring for whom.
actually voiced my dissent to the liberal covid narrative at a family reunion tonight. all my relatives just assumed that I agree with them that masks work, Republicans are deliberately killing their voters, we should be afraid of the unvaxxed etc etc
Look, I got arrested for protesting the Iraq war, canvassed for Bernie Sanders, and have read the first 3 volumes of Marx's Capital. I WILL vote Republican if we regress on the covid state.
thinking about the fact that infants and the elderly can literally die from lack of human contact (even if all their other physical needs are being met) and how in 2020 social isolation became the cornerstone of public health...
everyone knows that gender nonconforming kids often grow up to be homosexual adults. if jazz jenning's parents weren't psychos he would quite likely be a young gay men, so why did the HRC and other mainstream gay rights organizations endorse his castration?
how is it that so many prominent leftists simply cannot understand that humans crave community and connection with each other? if this is the value system of the left, I don't mind being an ex-leftist.
There’s not a dime in this economy that could not have been subsidized by the government through the pandemic.
But instead of America letting the people in on that truth, they’d rather you pile into stadiums and die for the profits of businesses
if you call everyone who wants a decent life for themself and their family a murderer for going on two years, the effect is going to be to deplete people's empathy and create an angry, hateful society.
@stormrobinson
I'm also gay and was silent for quite a while but now feel like it's a basic responsibility to speak up about some of the things mainstream LBGTQ+ are pushing, puberty blockers in particular.
2020 broke my life to bits and I'm very much still recovering.
it was all 100% the doing of Democratic governance.
this election isn't hard for me. I'm going to punish the party that did this by voting straight Republican.
pronouns and masks are the thin edge of the wedge: accept this little bit of violence against reality, on the grounds that it's just an inconvenience and might even help someone, and find your mind softened up for more derangement to come.
Last weekend I needed a new dishwasher installed, but the installation techs arrived wearing cloth masks, one with the mask falling off his face.
When I asked them to wear high-quality
#N95s
(which I offered), or at least something that would cover the nose, they REFUSED. 🧵
I just want to say that as a gay man, I don't think Republicans are trying to kill me.
If you're a long time Democrat who's thinking of voting Republican for the first time because of covid but are also hesitant because you don't want gay people killed, you have my permission.
I understand wanting to maintain a form of leftism as a covid dissident; the problem is that when you start to look into it, you realize the forces that misled you about covid were not telling the unadulterated truth about a whole host of other things.
the liberal desire to be nice will continue to produce untold horrors until we get more comfortable with the possibility of maybe hurting someone's feelings with accurate factual information.
honestly very difficult, almost started crying. the covid state isolates you, strips away the natural bonds of solidarity that sustain you through life. it becomes terrifying to in any way jeopardize the relationships that remain.
the initial rationale for vaccine mandates and passports has completely collapsed; they now have no possible justification other than punishing and excluding undesirables from society.
Let’s go back in time to 3/29/21
“No we know that the vaccines work well enough that the virus stops with every vaccinated person… The virus does not infect them…It cannot use a vaccinated person as a host to get more people.
when it comes right down to it, everyone knows it's really really stupid to put a mask on for a couple of minutes to order a beer, then take it off to drink the beer - yet people still do it. what the fuck
in a species that reproduces sexually, homosexuals are always going to be a small minority.
the best way to find pride in your minority status is not by trying to foist it on everyone as an official state religion, but by cultivating the beauty of your anomalous nature.
The eagerness of the educated classes to conform to absurd covid theater showed that for the most part formal higher education doesn't teach you anything except how to behave like an educated person.
I wrote an article for Tablet on the co-optation of gay culture and the making of a major medical scandal.
Many thanks to editors Jacob Siegel and David Sugarman for working with me on this.
I'll sometimes see people ask, How could many of the same people who warned us against making moral judgments about HIV/AIDS now moralize covid?
After some reading, I think I can now answer this question. 🧵
man, you favored closing schools and restricting the lives of children for a virus that posed virtually zero risk to them;
I'm a gay man too and am likewise against shutting down our spaces, but this is revolting hypocrisy.
I wouldn't really care about trans stuff if it wasn't for puberty blockers. the science on them is just really really bad.
the fact that a 'movement' would die on the hill of being able to give them to minors makes everything about the movement extremely suspect.
my most tinfoil hat belief is that the current generation of children is being indoctrinated to see their bodies primarily as a fungible resource for medical experiments.
turns out natural immunity is waaay better than vaccine conferred immunity - it's high time we create natural immunity passports! Protect the truly immune from the merely vaccinated. Anything else is incredibly reckless. people. are. dying.
I don't know anything about Larry Elder and I don't care. The Democrats' whole mode of politics is to threaten you with catastrophe if you don't do as they say. This allows them to preside over actual catastrophes like the state of California.
Vote recall.
I appreciate the honesty of the man who wrote this article; the fact that a father would 'spiral into darkness' because his toddler liked tractors suggests that many kids now are being raised with a new set of incredibly restrictive gender norms
Rasmussen blocked me back in the winter for asking why Illinois had a higher death rate than Florida. Now Yamey has blocked me for wondering why Iowa and Texas saw a decline in cases after lifting restrictions. Can't shake the feeling some of these experts are frauds.
in my humble opinion, we would be in better shape as a society if instead of arguing bitterly about sex ed in kindergarten, we were able to talk honestly about the ethics of prescribing puberty blockers to minors.
Talked to a friend who just moved from the Bay Area to Nashville. He told me that in Nashville people only wear masks in self-consciously liberal or "artsy" spaces like hipster cafes. It's so wild - the mark of being bohemian now is being a faceless drone.
I almost can't believe the gall of SF progressives saying the recall was due to white supremacy; the SF school board presided over one of the longest (if not the longest) public school closures in the country.
in a few months we'll have had vaccines for a year - in summer 2020, not even the most hawkish lockdowners were arguing for restrictions POST-vaccine... at some point those of us against this new dystopia have to come up with a better strategy than just waiting for it to fade.
David Frum and Bill Kristol are sort of impressive in their history of being partisan Republicans when the Republicans were at their worst and now partisan Democrats when the Democrats are at their worst
had to say something; I don't know if I convinced anyone. even if I didn't, I at least demonstrated that their assumption that everyone agrees with them is false.
@jk_rowling
I'm sorry; it means a lot that you're apparently the only children's author in the world willing to speak out against the medical abuse of children.
PSA from the Biden administration: The vaccines themselves do not protect you. Rather, the point of getting vaccinated is it puts you in the class of people worthy of being protected by the state.
My baby point blank asked a man getting into an elevator after us “Why aren’t you wearing a mask?” He said sorry and got out of the elevator. That’s MY GIRL!!!💪💪💪😆😆😆😷😷😷
The reason it's necessary to speak "as a gay person" on the gender troubles isn't that it only affects gay youth but rather because it's explicitly being done in your name if you're gay.
I don't really consider myself on the left or right anymore. my basic view is that we are going through a collective crisis of disembodiment with many morbid symptoms.
No challenge poses a greater threat to our future than a changing climate. Every day, we’re feeling the impact of climate change, and today’s Supreme Court decision is a major step backward.
we don't actually have anything close to the technology to stop the spread of a respiratory virus but let's act as though we do and maybe people won't notice the difference; society as a whole is now being run like a Silicon Valley startup.
The restrictions-forever covid fanatics are the new Moral Majority, and their grasp of science seems to be about on the level of the people demanding schools teach that the earth is 400 years old.
I lived in public libraries most my adult life but can't stand to set foot in them anymore due to the fact they still require masks while businesses do not. progressives have led the charge to make public space as unpleasant as possible.
If DoorDash drivers had to show proof of vaccination to get into a restaurant to pick up the order, I bet the zoom class would turn against vax passports immediately.
talked to an old Marxist friend about how I plan to vote Republican until the covid regime is good and buried because I don't think any other issue can matter as long as our basic humanity is still imperiled like this; he seemed to understand.
I don't think we should be refashioning boys' intestines into something that sort of resembles a vagina before they're even given the chance to grow up. Categorically, I don't think we should be doing that under any circumstances.
If that makes me rightwing, I'm okay with that.
A NOTE FOR PARENTS: If your child tells you they are transgender, you have two choices:
1. have a trans child
2. have a dead child
It really is that simple - for so many of us, the ability to live authentically is a matter of life & death.
I wrote an essay on the tragic legacy of AIDS and the marriage of leftwing activism & the pharmaceutical industry.
many thanks to Geoff and Nina and the good people of
@compactmag_
to be a good leftist in 2022 means that you're capable of sincerely believing that parents only object to having their kids wear a mask all day in perpetuity because they're being paid by the Koch brothers.
@aginnt
Sweden is a different country. Indeed, they even speak a different language in Sweden. Therefore, we should lock down. Truly impressive the way these people follow the science.
I'm more pro-vaccine than some of my comrades here (I think those at risk from severe illness from covid should get vaccinated), but by now its clear the architects of our dystopia see vaccines the same as masks, closures, etc - one more tool of domination.
Sorry to get so angry and emotional here. I don’t see masking toddlers as one issue among others but rather as the mark of an antihuman society. If you feel differently our outlooks might be incommensurable. Otherwise, I don’t see how it can be denied Dems are the architects.
honestly I think the only thing getting me through this is knowing I'm ultimately only responsible for taking care of myself. I can't imagine having kids, watching their childhood be needlessly stripped away and being powerless to stop it.
The evil of our times is best exemplified by progressive ideology declaring that children must be forced to wear masks for the sake of disability rights when in fact nothing is more harmful to disabled children than being forced to live in a faceless world.
My roommate just voted straight Democrat while I’m planning to vote Republican this election. We talked about it and are closer friends than ever.
Don’t disown the people in your life over their political affiliation.
