AI safety means:.• Audits and testing.• Strong privacy protections.• Safety-by-design.• Human oversight.• Liability for harms. Congress made the right call in the 99–1 vote to strike it. The threats haven’t gone away; neither should  protections.

As expected, the #AIActionPlan directs federal funding to states without "burdensome" AI regulations. While short of a full-throated moratorium, this won’t be the last attempt to stifle state autonomy to protect kids and families from AI harms.

What stood out to us?.Nearly 3 out of 4 teens have used companions at least once, half don't trust advice and info from AI companions, and a third find conversations with AI companions as or more satisfying than with human friends.

Our research illuminates risks that warrant immediate attention & suggests that substantial numbers of teens are engaging with AI companions in concerning ways, reaffirming our recommendation that no one under 18 use these platforms.
