At 19, I realized I wanted to write/direct movies. Next year, after I turn 39, my 1st feature film will be released. That’s 20 years. Most spent with *nothing* visible happening in my career. Just a hard grind no one will ever see. Be patient. Do the work. See where it takes you.

On this day, 11 years ago. It's been a journey. Away from pivots and acclaim in other fields, I'll tread this path all over again if I had to go back in time. Congratulations to me, and to the rest of my call mates. 28 November 2013 will always be a key timestamp.

It's extreme arrogance to think that every single person who consumes your work will like it. That's never going to happen. Once you send something out to the world, you can't dictate how people react to it. But if people care enough to talk about it, you've won already.
