Houston,
Before 2014, I was a baseball player without a home. A seasonal worker who had put 200,000+ miles on my Honda Accord. My wife and I had bounced from city to city trying to find a place that would accept us, that would allow us to stay for a while...
Absolutely devastated by the news of Luis’ passing. He was such a huge piece of our success story with the
@astros
...but more than that, he was a husband, father, teammate and friend. Rest easy, brother 💔
Swinging in a 3-0 count should not be against any rules, no matter the score.
Before a game I would always look to see what % a guy swings 3-0. If it’s over 20%, it means I can’t just groove one.
The guys who will never “give you a pitch” at the plate are the toughest AB’s.
Wishing Eloy the best of luck as he goes to AAA to work on...defense? baserunning? creating excess value for a $1.5 billion franchise that hasn’t made the playoffs in a decade? bunting?
For me, this 2018
@astros
team will be defined by our
#grit
. These guys sacrificed their bodies, playing hurt all season, and accomplished things this franchise has never seen. The bar is set high...exactly where it should be.
Win or lose, the fact the Astros have done this without the reigning AL Cy Young winner, without the reigning ROY, without their closer and half of the bullpen, after losing the 2nd best pitcher in the league to a rival, firing their manager and GM--is all pretty remarkable.
"This is my first 20-game winner as a manager."
@Braves
manager Brian Snitker asked Kyle Wright to autograph tonight's scorecard. And he plans to frame it.
This is a HUGE day for professional baseball. Minor leaguers have been without a seat at the table for too long, and it’s time for a change! Myself and the rest of the players in the big leagues stand with all MiLB players in this fight 👊🏼
The
@BlueJays
will keep Vlad Guerrero Jr. down in Triple-A until he can't accrue a full year of service time in 2019, thereby pushing back his arbitration and free agency clock a year.

Houston may get a bad rep from those who don’t know her well. But a city this diverse, this beautiful, has my heart and won’t let it go. We have no idea what the future holds and if we will ever be back here to live. But if our time here is at an end, I want to thank you...
Astros GM Jeff Luhnow: “We don’t feel like we’re in a position of panic or have to overact. That being said, we are going to explore the trade market, we’re going to explore the free-agent market for starters to try and put together as solid of a rotation as we can ..."
As the Red Sox reported, I have made the decision to opt out of the 2020 baseball season. It’s been a difficult choice for me and my family, and not at all what we had intended for this year.
Notice how lance is holding a sick pair of limited edition sneaks, and I’m holding a used bookstore edition of Cat’s Cradle.
@LMcCullers43
will you teach me how to be cool?
The 6 years we spent in Houston have been the best years of my life. Not without it’s fair share of heartache and struggle, but also full of joy & celebration. I’m so grateful to have played a part in something that people in Houston will remember for the rest of their lives...
If only there was this thing where people who had been around baseball a long time taught people who hadn’t been around as long. Imagine the possiblity for improvement yr over yr! We could call it coaching!
@drivelinebases
If only there was just a really quick way to increase spin rate. Like what if you could trade for a player knowing that you could bump his spin rate a couple hundred rpm overnight...imagine the steals you could get on the trade market! If only that existed...
We adopted the Heights as our neighborhood of choice, we made friends with our neighbors, and became regulars at the places we love. My wife brought 2 incredible boys into the world, and we’ve learned how to parent and raise them alongside our Astros teammates and their kids...
Just caught up on the

debate. There’s a lot at stake here! While I would never tell anyone how to vote...it’s a personal choice that doesn’t need my opinion...I would encourage all Texans to do their own research and exercise their civic right on Nov. 6!
Baseball is only as important as its ability to bring people together, and the collective joy that these Astros teams have brought to this city has made all the hard work and long hours feel worth it...
The way the Astros and the people of this city have treated he and my mom will be a debt I cannot repay. You all lifted him up when they needed it most, and you made their lives richer by being here...
I’M ONLY GOING TO SAY THIS ONCE.... SO LISTEN UP.... IF

But this is why he's an All-Star.
My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in 2014, so his battle with the disease has been interwoven into my time here as well. He’s spent time in houston both as a proud father and a struggling patient at MD Anderson...

fans. We’re not out of the woods yet, and we have to keep protecting ourselves and neighbors.
In all seriousness. I got better by watching dudes pitch on
@PitchingNinja
. Nobody gets better by accident. We saw/heard something and tried it for ourselves.
When Julio managed the GCL team for the mets, I asked him if he worked out everyday. He looked me dead in the eyes and said, “Do you eat everyday?” and then walked away shaking his head. I’ll never forget it.
This is a lie.
In no way does SB-202 expand voting rights. It is unduly restrictive, and purposefully aimed at limiting Georgians who do not have a DL, struggle with transportation, have limited (or no) paid days off, and vote in maj Dem counties.
Again. This is a lie.
On Fox News,
@GovKemp
signals his support for the elections legislation that’s about to pass the Legislature.
“We’re actually expanding the right to vote in Georgia. You’re not hearing that from the other side, but that’s what it’s doing …"

For anyone who hasn’t been in a big league locker room before, there are always empty lockers between veteran guys’ lockers. Simply a perk of having a bunch of service time. Don’t read into it, y’all.
My

Baseball has long been a source of collective joy in America, especially in times of distress. It’s a sad day when we must close the doors for a bit...but at this point, as public health is our priority, let’s all try to stay safe & find that collective joy in the small things❤️
Glenn Burke was one of us. He was a great baseball player, a beloved teammate, and a gay man. Baseball failed him. So when we remember his legacy, we must also commit to treating this generation of LGBTQ players with dignity and humanity.

When I was in the minor leagues, My wife and I lived with a woman whose family worked in that factory since it’s inception. She showed me hats from the early years of New Era MLB, and was so proud of her connection to the game. I stand with the workers in Derby, NY
#NewEraHatsOff
As one of the most prominent unions in the US, we want to elevate the voices of the laborers whose work makes our game possible. The Derby, NY factory workers have been a part of our game, making the iconic on-field hats for over 50 years. They deserve better.
#NewEraHatsOff
True. If you can’t throw inside without hitting a guy, DO SOMETHING ELSE. People talk about brush back pitches like they’re easy to do. They‘re not. Don’t ruin a guy’s season bc you can’t execute, & damn sure don’t drill him just bc you can’t think of another way to get him out.
@Wiezguy
Or: How about aiming a fastball at the inside corner? Or spinning a slider away, as Tyler Flowers said? I mean, figure out a way to beat him without drilling the guy. Pitchers have to do that every day with JD Martinez, Trout, Altuve, Jose Ramirez, Lindor, Betts, etc.
Even coming up short last night, it was a great game and an even better crowd. Huge thx to the amazing Tampa/St. Pete LGBTQ+ fans for always supporting us!
Baseball is for everyone 🏳️🌈
Finding temporary housing on your own in multiple cities every year, and then having to pay for them all on a less-than-minimum wage salary was one of the biggest challenges I ever faced in baseball. Bravo to the O’s and Astros for taking care of their people!
The

Don’t you know that’s joomboi’s thing? Share a clip that he knows nothing about and claim he knows something about it and it suuuure looks suspicious.
In this data driven baseball age, there’s nowhere to hide. If you have a tendency, it’s gonna be exploited. Swinging 3-0, to me, is the same as swinging first pitch of an AB. If you do it enough times, a pitcher can’t game plan as well against you.
