Very well said, thank you for sharing this. Age doesn't change abuse and trauma. Pawbert being 30ish just makes it more tragic, but it doesn't mean "irredeemable." I'm 22 now, but I didn't even feel like an adult until I escaped my cycle of abuse at 21. It's never too late.

This changed nothing other than making Pawbert more tragic? Him being around 30 and stuck in the cycle yet still reading the book is sad. (It's growth tho) Arrested development is very real and well studied. As said, I genuinely don't understand why people are freaking out lol

i love pawbert as the bad guy. i dont pray he gets redeemed, i like him flawed and fucked up and imperfect and him wanting acceptance so bad that he turns into something irredeemable is part of his character and thats what makes him likeable. i wouldn't want it any different tbh

While it's tragic it's very realistic, even irl victims tend to accept their fate and reality of never being enough and just choosing the abusive party nonetheless because it's the only way of living they know or understand. Pawbert had everything to gain but he couldn't take it

One positive occurrence and meet up for a day or two of people who could've genuinely been good for him in every sense of that word is not going to wipe away 20 or so years of deep rooted physical, verbal abuse and the conditional upbringing he was exposed to as a Lynxley ...
highkey think pawbert's biggest tragedy is him not realising that in gary, judy and crew he could have had a found family better than the lynxleys ever were and all the love he lost in childhood would have been regained tenfold
