BREAKING: The Assembly has backed our call for the Secretary of State to begin institutional reform. No single party should be able to hold Stormont to ransom. This is a historic chance to move beyond division and dysfunction, and towards politics that works for everyone.

Our institutions cannot remain stuck in 1998. Society has evolved, and our institutions need to as well. Enough is enough. Alliance's motion today is calling for Stormont to be reformed so we can end dysfunctional decision making and deliver for the people of NI.

Going green tonight at City Hall discussing the Belfast Net Zero Neighbourhood Framework. One of only 11 European cities taking part in the pilot & delighted it has been agreed tonight. It sets out clearly how we move towards net zero through active travel, greening and retrofit.

Such a busy day at committee @CllrSamNel has a motion passed on the interface barrier in Alexandra Park. My motion, seeking to ensure Cllrs attendance record aren't affected in the first 6 months after having a baby also passed.

Plenty of important decisions at committee today. Delighted my motion on removing the interface barrier in Alexandra Park was passed. Along with my colleagues @JennaMaghie’s motion on attendance records for parent’s attendance. Plenty of exciting funding decisions too.

As leader of the Alliance Party, I have written to the SoS outlining the case for urgent reform of Stormont’s power-sharing institutions in the wake of the Covid Inquiry findings. “The institutions must be reformed to stop any single party from paralysing decision-making.”

Giving division a facelift cannot be the height of our ambition, say @NualaMcAllister and @CllrSamNel. The 'peace wall' in Alexandra Park has divided the community for longer than the Berlin Wall stood, and with funding secured for redevelopment, now's the time to tear it down.

The people at Peas Park work hard to deliver a shared community space that’s committed to sustainability and the environment. They’ve had some trouble with ASB this last while but are holding an engagement event to talk about the future of the space. Show them support 🪴🫜

This was Alliance Party Headquarters on Wednesday morning. There is no place for sectarian hate or intimidation in our society. Alliance will not be deterred from working for everyone in Northern Ireland and building a positive, progressive and united community.

Last night we suspended council business. Alliance took the position that we disagreed with debate being shut down but disagreed on walking out of the chamber too. We were left trying to keep things afloat and broker a way forward. This is not an acceptable way to do politics.

Delighted Council has now completed the acquisition of the Assembly Rooms. This has to be the beginning of regeneration in the area that respects the history and heritage. Work now to restore the building and bring it back into public use in a way that respects its importance.

Today at committee in BCC, business was temporarily suspended to clarify the legal position around the erection of a message opposing genocide in Palestine. We welcome the issue being resolved and have proposed that the policy is reviewed to provide greater clarity in the future
