Ignore the NIMBYs. Build the Gondala.
The coalition of LA residents who oppose the Dodger Stadium gondola shut down the Metro board of directors meeting Thursday. They forced the meeting into recess and demanded that officials at minimum allow public discussion on the project. This is a developing story.

@LAPublicPress That’s the guy who forced the UCLA Mobility Lab into writing a report saying that somehow adding a transit alternative would not alleviate surrounding traffic. A study that was later discredited by its own authors, years ago now. Yet it is still being cited by project

@lhfang The California Endowment is a *major* nonprofit funder in Los Angeles. The California Endowment opposes the gondola because it would block the nice views of the hills from their office next to Union Station.

Gavin Newsom’s pollster, David Binder, tested a number of Prop. 50 ads and found that Tom Steyer’s ranked at the very bottom of them. Rather than helping convince voters to support it, Steyer’s ads turned them off. Fun California 🔪

Big news. So pumped to welcome Zach to the Click Strategies team.
I’ll have more to say in the coming weeks about what these past 10 years with @MayorOfLA have meant to me but for now I have some ~personal news~ that I’ll be starting with the Click Strategies team at the end of this month!

Unless the LA City Council can cap expenses for apartment operators— capping insurance premiums, utility costs, etc.—capping rent growth will only drive more projects towards insolvency. If that’s the goal, fine. But they should say so.
City of LA now considering stricter rent control: - Lower rent increase floor from 3% to 2%. - Lower rent increase cap from 8% to 5%. - Eliminate 1%–2% utility increase for landlords who cover gas + electricity. - Use CPI-Less Shelter index (excludes housing = lower increases).

Dr. Michael Mandel never intended to research the economic impact of sports betting. The chief economist and vice president of the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) got into gambling for a simple reason: He wanted something to share with his then-94-year-old father. That

Millions of Virginians are playing online casino games on unregulated, offshore sites – often without even knowing it. Legalizing and regulating online casino games would protect players, generate tens of millions in tax revenue for the state, and take power away from illegal

Thank you @katieporteroc! YIMBY and Abundance voters take note! Looks like we have found our candidate!
I disagree on SB79. I support it and was glad to see @CA_Dem endorse it this weekend. Workers, students, seniors and other Californians will all benefit from more housing—especially near transit.

NEWS: Gavin Newsom has raised $6.2 million in online donations in the first week of redistricting fight. An outpouring of 200k donations is a sign of awakening Dem small donor base. It's also a boon to lists for a potential 2028 run. More at NYT —>
