At this point, I think I have the bats as LF - Valera CF - Kwan RF - DeLauter 3B - Jose SS - Arias 2B - Rocchio 1B - Hoskins C - Bo DH - Manzardo Bench - Hedges, Fry, Schnee, Angel I really want Kayfus on there but don’t see how or the opportunities right now
Whether or not Kwan is the everyday CF feels like it will determines so much for roster construction. If he is, then LF is Valera and RF is DeLauter? If he’s not, then aren’t Valera, DeLauter, Kayfus all battling for one spot and CF is Schnee/Angel?

A couple of thoughts after a week into ST and watching the Guards game today: 1. Pretty good case for Ralphy to be #1 prospect in the system especially with CDL continued injury concerns 2. There’s no way NoJo should make this team and I don’t understand why they gave him $2M

Cooper Ingle goes deep! 105 off the bat. It’s a hit-over-power profile but I love how efficient the swing is. Can still flash a little thump.

The only guys I’d be interested in extending right now would be Kwan (unlikely? Thanks Dodgers/Kyle Tucker) Gavin (unlikely, Boras) Cade (would make the most sense IMO)

IMO, there would be way more risk in locking in those years for unproven guys than the reward of buying out an extra year or two of FA.
If I have a Guardians hot take, it’s that I have no interest in extending any of Manzardo, DeLauter, or Bazzana right now. You already have 5-7 years of control with those guys and they haven’t proven enough yet for it to make sense to lock in financial for those years.

I started to put together a Jose Ramirez collection a few years ago partly because he’s been my favorite player of this era (easy choice) but also because I thought there might not be another lifelong Cleveland player that is a Hall of Famer given MLB’s dynamics. Such a legend.

I think it’s pretty clear at this point that Jose will be Hall of Fame bound and there are some important markers that he should hit this year to wrap it up ☑️60+ WAR (57.7 fWAR) ☑️ 300 HR (285) ☑️ 300 SB (287) ☑️56.0 JAWS* (51.1) *all 11 3B with a JAWS of 56.0+ are in the HoF

Jose was almost certain to pass Feller and Boudreau for career fWAR with Cleveland, but with this extension he has a real shot at topping Lajoie and Speaker as well. He has 7 seasons to accumulate 17.3 fWAR to do so, and this point that seems very doable.

Seems like a good time to revisit Jose Ramirez’s place in Cleveland baseball history. Jose currently has career 54.0 fWAR, obviously all accumulated with Cleveland. He is now 5th all time for fWAR accumulated in a Cleveland uniform. Here’s the list: 🧵

I appreciate the Guardians being calculated but they are so adverse to risk that it’s maddening. You have to push some chips in and take some even moderate sized risks at some point
