Shakespeare used trochaic tetrameter to indicate supernatural characters, like fairies or witches. And, of course, so does the Llama Llama series.

One problem with most productions of Waiting For Godot is that they don't cast the leads as a comedy team. Laurel and Hardy were a big influence! Straight man/goofy guy, Tall skinny guy/short fat guy. Instead, Vladimir and Estragon are usually too similar.

If you only know Maggie Smith from her famous late roles, you're missing out on one of the greatest ever classical performers. At the National in the 60s and Stratford Festival in the 70s, she was a titan. What a stunning career.

Everyone knows James Earl Jones from Darth Vader and Mufasa and CNN. But in the 60s and 70s, he staked out a real claim as the great American Shakespeare actor. Othello, Lear, Claudius, Oberon and more. The voice was unforgettable, but he was so much more.

A weird thing is that Shakespeare famously described Margaret of Anjou as the "she-wolf of France," and then Thomas Gray lifted that title for a poem in 1757 to describe Edward II's Queen Isabella. So now she just gets to be the She-Wolf of France? The position is taken!

The technical term for a nonsense refrain (like "hey nonny nonny") is...a dildo.
