This X account was formerly my only account. Soon after upgrading to paid status I lost access to it - not sure why. So I opened a new account under my name John Bennetts, with pseudonym rotarybloke. I can't now get into the rotarybloke account. Does anybody know how I can choose

Another one to add to a growing list of influential supporters of nuclear power. It's time for Australia's electrical & construction trades unions & Greens politicians to rethink their stances or be left further behind.

This man writes with accuracy and sharp analysis that can only come from long involvement in a trusted role in the power game. This article is one of the finest on this subject in an Australian context.
Australia needs to make the transition to net zero without threatening reliability or affordability. Unrealistic promises of lower power prices is unhelpful and even risks the transition.

My local RSL Clubs have walked away from their founding purposes & principles. First came registration under the Registered Clubs Act and gambling machines (pokies, racing, Lotto, etc), then 24/7 continuous gambling, then merging with the Registered Clubs Associations, state by

There is a small mountain of work awaiting the Senate Privileges Committee's attention - right across the House.

Part of me wishes that, today, I was again working in China with access to a range of local and international English language newspapers and limited exposure to the USA election's shallow commentary.

i suspect i’ll never understand why @MarkDreyfusKCMP hasn’t intervened in this #whistleblower case. in opposition, his gov’t promised it understood the value of whistleblowers in the nation’s integrity framework — yet he stands by while the system destroys @Richard_D_Boyle.
3/ Plea form support: I have taken this whistleblowing as far as I can. This has been going for eight long years for me. @LouiseBeaston and I are at breaking point. correction, we broke some time ago. But we continue on nonetheless, albeit slower and slower, as we are

I heartily agree. From the certificates "earned" for the calculated lifetime emissions reduction for the smallest rooftop PV to those earned by methane injection programs in the oil and gas sector, most carbon credits are impossible to verify. It is good to see this issue on the

It had to be said. TAI can't be trusted when truth and trust are essential.
Why does Rod Campbell reckon we can't handle nuclear waste but while loving batteries? He wants a vast increase on the amount of batteries we use. 1. How many plane crashes has nuclear waste caused? 0 (Batteries? Two killing all 4 crew ... cargo flights). 1/6

First of a long thread reporting on today's events in a certain Oz Senate Committee of enquiry. NB About half way in, somebody asks "Who is Smart Energy Council?" Site ABN Lookup answers that it is a trading name of ABN 32 006 824 148, which is a public not-for-profit company
The House Select Committee on Nuclear Energy is again holding hearings today. We will be providing a 🧵on key takeaways from the hearings. First up, @GeoscienceAus says there is no science behind uranium bans & that they are a matter of political policy. #auspol

A staggering tale. Might be behind a paywall, but well worth the visit.
If you want to know why scientists are so worried about the threat of #AMOC collapse, I try to explain it here:

2/2 2. Australia can't have NP because we don't have local companies doing nuclear engineering. But... Westinghouse has appointed 6 Polish contractors to work on the 6x1000MW Polish new builds. Poland currently has no nuclear power industry. So could Australia. ENDS

Two often-heard opinions about nuclear power in Australia. 1. The legislated bans against NP are irrelevant when it comes to commercial comparisons. But... "Alinta Energy boss reaffirms that companies aren't looking at nuclear because of the bans." 1/2
