I’m seeing a growing number of students complain: “My grade doesn’t reflect the effort I put into the course.” Public service announcement: You don’t get an A for effort. You earn it for excellence. Success is measured by the level of mastery you show, not how hard you work.

Many people procrastinate because they're waiting for their motivation to rise. They forget that getting started is what leads their motivation to rise. Passion is not a prerequisite for progress. It's often the result of progress.

Meta-analysis of social priming replication studies finds that the strongest predictor of replication success, by far, is an original author being involved: 12/16 success or not 0/49 success. Preregistration also negatively associated with replicability. https://t.co/agkK0OeS85

Urgency ≠ Importance. Deadlines are a trap. This is due to the mere urgency effect. The paper shows we work harder on unimportant tasks with deadlines than vital ones: “People behave as if pursuing an urgent task has its own appeal, independent of its objective consequence.”

For the last two years, I've changed countless diapers and spent more time staring at my baby's butt than my hubby's face...I now have a much more profound appreciation for everything my mom has done for me and now her grandkid. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!❤️💐🥰
