One of the committees that rarely meets is the education committee...it has a budget of $175,000 annually, according to this story. That is astounding. I have no idea what that money is spent on.

Calling all charter school leaders that received a CSP grant to help them open. A picture is worth a thousand tweets. Without this grant @SteelCity219 would not exist! Let’s show @JoeBiden who benefits from CSP grants. @teasleygeo @charteralliance @charteralliance @SecCardona

So many great things for kids and families this year! So happy to see cuts to #EarlyIntervention restored and an increase for DHS home visiting for the first time in 20 years! 🎉👏

Will someone please create a podcast that just looks at municipal budgets and talks about what budget decisions mean?

"Play-based instruction is important not just in prekindergarten, but in kindergarten as well. Just like preschoolers, five- and six-year-olds are still in the preoperational stage in their development." https://t.co/L337kA95LE

"We’re all tired, we all want this to be over, but I don’t think it’s over yet and I don’t think it’s time to “go back to normal,” which wasn’t really all that great anyway, but that’s not important right now." from #CPS substitute Cathy Crocco. https://t.co/YOks5cJSaF

Working parents are not surprised, but studies from @UChiConsortium confirm that "when more full-day pre-K options were offered, enrollment rates for Black students more than quadrupled, and enrollment for Latinx students nearly tripled." https://t.co/YVbVqn3KEZ

It's fairly safe to say that this story does not come as a particular surprise to most CPS parents.

CPS had little to no public health infrastructure when COVID-19 hit. When it turned to the city, it found a similarly strained setup.
