Folks, it's arrived - the holy grail of F1 race programs: Europe 1950 (at Silverstone), the first Grand Prix of the World Championship Era. I wish this arrived for the anniversary recently, but alas. It is in (mostly) fantastic condition, as well. What a piece of history! 1/

@KrisVanD2 @SilverstoneUK I was there. In Stowe Corner Grandstand. Can still see Mark Donohue crashing in his Penske March 751. Little did we know that a similar shunt in Austria a couple of weeks or so later would sadly claim him

1975 British Grand Prix,Silverstone. The end-results were overshadowed by a heavy storm from Lap 53, which caused three out of the top four cars (Jody Scheckter, James Hunt, and Mark Donohue), to aquaplane and crash in the same corner, bringing an early finish to the race.

Remembering Maria Teresa de Filippis, born #OnThisDay 99 years ago. The first of only 2 women ever to start a championship #F1 GP (the other being Lella Lombardi in the โ70s), de Filippis drove 3 F1 GPs in โ58, in a Maserati 250F, the last at Monza (pic). She died in 2016.
