I did not vote for @UKLabour today. The racism and transphobia that I have witnessed by their leader during this election was enough to sway me. I wonder how many other lifelong Labour voters they lost this time.
I have voted Labour my entire life. For generations my family have voted Labour. My mother is a Labour councillor. I will be reconsidering where my vote should be cast following this treatment of @UKLabour politicians by @Keir_Starmer during his leadership.

A huge show of support for @faizashaheen amongst locals in C&WG. Speakers include local shopkeepers, a local Chingford dad, the owner of a kids acting school as well as local campaigners. So moving to see - after what has been, for so many of us, a very upsetting week.

At this point I’m convinced that @Keir_Starmer was an industry plant all along.
We must recruit a truly representative set of candidates for future elections. Labour must be at the forefront of championing diversity and bringing people into politics who have not previously considered becoming involved.

The deselection of @faizashaheen seems particularly inexcusable, not just because of the horrible manner in which it was done, but because she is that rare thing among Labour candidates: a trained economist who has written extensively about the issues of economic and class

In solidarity with those coming together to #standwithFaiza I have written to my candidate @AfzalKhanMCR and @UKLabour about the removal of @faizashaheen as a Labour candidate in the upcoming election. We cannot allow this type of injustice to happen within the Labour Party.

The deselection of @faizashaheen is unacceptable. To use her tweets accounting personal experiences of Islamophobia as evidence for deselection is utterly outrageous. Telling a Muslim woman she is not allowed to talk about her own experiences of racism is clear Islamophobia.

Since the election was called, I’ve reflected on my time so far as an MP. It's a huge privilege, but it’s not been easy. In 2019 I became the youngest Muslim ever elected to Parliament. This year I was told I receive more online abuse than any other MP, mostly Islamophobic. 🧵
