Every quarter since Labour took power has set a new record high for homeless families in England. Today's update takes the figure to 172,000 children in temporary accommodation. This is the primary metric on which I will judge Labour on housing. It is failing badly.

Interesting pivot from Government, calling out Brexit's role in on our economic woes Started in Starmer's conference speech But invites question: how much closer should we get to EU to fix this? Customs union? Single market? Rejoin? Is that where they want the discussion to go?

Jon Butterworth oversees thousands of miles of transmission pipelines transporting gas to power the UK — but that's just his day job. If enemies like Russia were ever to attack British energy supplies, he’s the man on the frontline. https://t.co/gxaEoDD1OB

You probably don't know what - or who - Britain's Network Emergency Coordinator is But come an energy shock (say, a Nord Stream style attack on British gas pipelines), one official has sweeping powers to keep supplies flowing to essential services @CharlieCooper8 story ⬇️

Europe's big Russian LNG buyers still struggling to kick the habit...
EU ambassadors today failed to finalize their position on Brussels’ landmark plan to end imports of Russian gas by the end of 2027 after persisting technical concerns over the text. https://t.co/xHANMY76bN

EU to "fast-track" phase-out of Russian LNG to 1 Jan 2027 (Although that will be nearly five years since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine so, actually, not very "fast" at all)
Cash from energy sales keeps Russia’s war going. So we’re going after these revenues by designating 118 new vessels as shadow fleet and enablers, and banning re-insurance of listed vessels. Our aim is to speed up the phase-out of Russian liquefied natural gas by 1 Jan 2027.
