I had to break an attempt at prolonged fasting at 30 hours due hypoglycaemia alarm ‼️ BS 2.0🚨. Will document the details below 1/n.

if you are a #Scuba diver, and you are diagnosed with #Type1Diabetes, you cannot:.-dive for 1 year after initiation on Insulin therapy.- hv any episodes of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia requiring intervention from a third party.-no h/o hypoglycemia unawareness.- have HbA1c>9%.

Aborted attempt at 0100 hours with a banana a pear and cranberry juice. BS rose to 5.5 in 30 minutes . Take home: it’s hardest around the 18-24 hour period, then it gets better . Next time….

Worried about sleep in empty stomach but that wasn’t a problem . Went to bed at 9 and fast asleep soon . Woke up by phone ringing -dexcom alarm -BS 2.0 ⏰. Then sensor malfunction-wait for reconnect . I’m asymptomatic for hypoglycaemia, no tachycardia nil else

HR was in mid 50s in the evening .Vague headache 5/10.BS stable on Dexcom G7 around 6.5. Did a dog walk of 45 minutes and sauna for half an hour .4/n.

Was all good till 2pm Saturday when a vague headache set in and remained throughout . I drank 5.5 litres of water throughout the day 3/n.

Is a consultant laparoscopic surgeon seriously saying that resident doctors do these for visiting consultants? . Is this in Chhattisgarh specifically as I have never heard of this.
