Massive own goal to export these AI chips to China. The H200 is 6x more powerful than the H20, which was previously the most powerful chip approved for export. Our compute advantage is the main thing keeping us ahead of China in AI. Why would we throw that away?

Released late 2024, the H200 uses TSMC’s 4nm technology, much like Blackwell chips (e.g., the B300). The H200 is 6x more powerful than the H20, and is great for both training and inference. It will be by far the most powerful AI chip we’ve exported to China.

I was worried about the US selling Blackwell chips to China. Now I'm very worried. Also from a European perspective. I highly recommend checking Figure 9: Assessing the impacts of B30A exports by scenario.
