Couldn't have done it without you!! π
Coming out of social media hiding to congratulate @Cgershy, whose time as a PhD candidate (including acquisition and analysis of ~200 fMRI scanning sessions and mastery of two quite different areas of the literature) culminated in a fantastic thesis defense today. What rocks!!!

One last recruitment push to finish my dissertation work! I need ~5 additional Deaf native signer participants! $100, 2-3 hours of your time. No metal implants. Transportation to and from campus is covered. Please share widely with folks in DMV area!
RECRUITING: Deaf native signers in DMV area for a MRI study at Georgetown University (IRB approved). 1 visit to campus, 2-3 hours, $100 payment. Help us understand how early exposure to sign language affects lateralization and processing in non-linguistic visuospatial domains!

ESPN has had the NBA since 2002. But Iowa-UConn's Final Four matchup was the network's most-watched basketball gameβmenβs or womenβs, pro or collegiateβever.

Relatedly, I am beginning a new fMRI project asking how exposure to a visual language modality (sign language) may change neural structure/function in non-linguistic domains.

On June 3rd, our @kellymartin418 became DR. MARTIN!!! Her defense talk, "Language System #Plasticity in Healthy #Development and after #Perinatal Stroke" turned out more beautiful than we ever imagined. We are so incredibly proud.

I have been struggling over the past week(s) to put my thoughts into words; this thread does it beautifully My cousins & best friend lives Israel. I personally feel a strong tie to Israel. Yet, I can unlearn the one-sided narrative that I was taught. I am no less Jewish for it.
As Jews we are told from a young age that our identities are intrinsically tied to the modern State of Israel. It is taught to us in Hebrew School, in services, and is a deeply held belief by many of our parents, grandparents and family members.
