Here’s Will Hutton with a piercing look at a long-running mystery: why do we treat our children so badly? I agree with every word. More on this in The Observer soon.
The neglect of our children is a disgrace - a crisis of national purpose. Let’s end this sorry tale of state neglect and make childhood magical again

It's an astonishing story and a brilliant piece of work.
This is one of the wildest stories we’ve ever published: two senior university executives agreeing a deal to divert student fee money from a partner in Casablanca to a company that one of them owns. The uni hasn’t denied the claims, which we’ve passed to the police.

It’s all a bit ‘knock me down with a feather’, isn’t it? Agents not completely trustworthy? No way! And naive: Mr Smith Goes To Swansea without the happy ending.
@CeriThomas01 Big fan of openness and transparency but I guess my initial reaction is to query whether it’s rare because this is just so unusual and shambolic. I also wonder how this lower level staff will feel about this as well. What a mess.

Hats off to you @Sanchia7, to @louisetickle and all the other dogged reporters who’ve made this happen. We’d be in a much worse place without you.
I first started reporting from Family Courts in 2009, on the @BBCr4today programme then edited by @CeriThomas01 …great to see this change now.
