After just shy of two years our Chief Operations Officer @EdwardSumner96 has left CWS to pursue a new role within the Welsh political arena, focusing on media and communications. We wish Edward all the best. His help has been invaluable over the past couple of years.

With a trial of Universal Basic Income now looming in Wales, former Conservative Candidate @CharlieEvans0 has written for CWS on the reasons to oppose UBI and why it's such a flawed idea for Wales🏴 Read the article below 👇 https://t.co/OoGir6q8no

It’s great to see the UK Government make this move 🏴 We released our Shared Prosperity Fund report last June, since then we have been the only think tank in Wales to call for this. Money will be going straight to a local level, this is real devolution. https://t.co/oa1JWMGybN

Welsh Secretary Simon Hart said the move was not an attack on the devolved settlement

During a period of huge economic uncertainty, the Welsh Government should be focussing on creating long-term, well-paid jobs for people across the country. Sign our petition if you agree that the UBI Trial in Wales should be scrapped -

In 2019, we started a campaign and released a research paper stating the case against the introduction of UBI in Wales. Many thought it was a pipe dream that would never happen here. Well, Wales now will see a UBI trial.

For over a year we have warned that the Welsh Government will introduce UBI. Our fears have now been realised. Creating new jobs, attracting investment and recovering from the pandemic should be the focus of the Welsh Government, not fantasy ideas. https://t.co/uodoRnVC4b

Can you afford a major tax hike to pay for Universal Basic Income? We didn’t think so ❌ Wales needs an economic recovery from Covid-19 based on jobs and investment, not ideological fantasy ideas.
🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨 In his interview with @EmmaG_news today, the @fmwales has firmly committed to a #BasicIncome pilot. The pilot design will be part @JaneHutt’s brief. To everyone who supported our #PledgeForUBI campaign - thank you. #UBIWales 🏴 #OurGenerationsNHS

This is a positive step for Wales, with Covid-19 rates so low it’s great to see the reopening of the economy and fans back at sporting events. The focus of the Welsh Government for the next five years needs to be one of jobs and economic recovery, not constitutional reform 🏴
The full proposed list of pilot test events have been announced by the @WelshGovernment: ☪️ 12-14 May - Eid 🎉 15 May - Tafwyl ⚽ 18 May - Newport County League 2 Playoffs 💼 20 May - Business event in Newport ⚽ 22 May - Swansea City Championship Playoffs [Threat] | #HeartNews

CWS would like to wish all candidates the best of luck today. Let's hope that the next Senedd term is one that promotes freedom, jobs, fairer taxes and investment in Wales. We'd especially like to thank all those that have generously helped us grow over the years 🏴

One year ago today we launched our six-part series on devolution. Since then the series has been viewed tens of thousands of times across social media platforms 💻📱 Today we hope to see Welsh people making their most informed vote yet in a devolved election 🏴
This is the first video in our new six-part educational series on devolution. 12 months today, Wales will vote to elect its new Government and Parliament (previously known as the Assembly). Every month we will be releasing a video to help you understand how devolution works.
