This is the reality of disabled people working. This young man was an invaluable part of the team — praised, included, and admired — until his family asked he be paid just a little for years of hard work. Shame on you, @waitrose. This treatment as worth less gets internalised.

Underrated method for improving one's mental health is simply taking a lively interest in things. I don't care what it is: mythology, medieval history, the birds in your garden. Pick a subject and study it. Cultivating a lively fascination sharpens the mind and increases joy.

The DWP says they've learnt from their communication mistakes so why are their email and texts so urgent and aggressive? 1. Not everyone has access to internet or a smart phone. Telling someone to do something straight away causes stress & anxiety. 2. Why is there no link? Some

I attended a quarterly forum where the NHS, local authorities, charities and people with lived experiences of mental illnesses were presenting and giving feedback. Definitely gave me food for thought about access, support and care from mental health professionals' perceptions.

Man on @BBCBreakfast saying SUVs should be banned, mate how do I get my wheelchair in the boot of a small car?! I can’t. Disabled people exist and we deserve a right to use a vehicle that fits our needs.

I spoke to @itvlondon about the planned closure of the Northwick Park hydrotherapy pool Losing access to hydro means many will lose access to rehab entirely. Worsening pain, disability & deepening health inequalities Hydro isn’t a luxury. It’s essential 🎥 #Hydrotherapy #Rehab

Been in hospital 24 hrs. Still in clothes I arrived in; haven’t brushed my teeth or been able to as medical assessment is basic. Have explained accessibility needs, and have had to push to locate the accessible toilet! No offer of help to shower, or given washing facilities.

A disabled man has chosen to stop taking life-saving medication because it is too hard to get health and social care This is the system we're introducing assisted suicide into. Are we ashamed yet? https://t.co/k38DO0Cv32

A mum & her disabled daughter who were left dead for ‘weeks or months’ could have been saved if an ambulance was sent when the mum called, a coroner says. Mum Alphonsine died of pneumonia while her daughter Loraine died of malnutrition & dehydration. RIP 🙏🏾 https://t.co/Ms8fjLB9H9

So, my occupational therapy today. I washed and dried a load, separately. I emptied a dishwasher and put the contents away. In other news, I can shower and dress myself. I long since have needed neither nappy nor catheter. I can get into a car. And I can walk again, unaided. I/2
