We planted soybeans from Covers & Co with our corn. The Covers & Co crew were out today on a crop tour.

I’d prefer not to harvest this. But also not to have it ripen and dry down. Basically I’d like to be able to visit this years crop any time I’d like. Freeze this August view.

We had @CBCCalgary come to the farm yesterday for a segment on the calf imprinting research that we have been completing with Dr Desiree Gellatly and @OldsCollege. Thank you to @JakeVermeer for letting borrow a newborn calf since we aren’t calving now.

The @4halberta Ag Next Generation tour stopped in yesterday. We talked about direct marketing beef and cattle behavior changes to reduce sickness and improve fertility. It was really fun to host all the 4H members as the first stop on their 10 day tour. Thank you for coming!

A day in the life trying to make feed

Corn is looking good. A little late planting so hopefully it’s a late frost 🤞

Sweet clover, red clover and triticale. With a field of straight alfalfa to top off the pile. I’ll be interested to get the feed tests on the clover triticale mix.

1 in 30 cows from Alberta are from the Serfas/Schootens feedlots. Their Feeder Cooperative also had 10x the loan cap of the next biggest Feeder Cooperative.

Haven’t stopped looking into the Serfas Schooten fraud btw. It does seem like a lot more people were likely aware of the fraud though.
