This week marks the 50th anniversary of my brother Tony's murder at Balibo East Timor by invading Indonesian. I'm touched visiting Timorese like Alberto from the City of Suai make a point of dropping into pay respects to him at his memorial tree at the St.Kilda Botanical Gardens.

God this makes me smile. The only remnant Pimelea humilis on the A1 in Warrnambool has doubled its height & set seed since October - because I asked Vicrds to stop mowing it.

Did you know Australia has its own tartan? It was designed by John Reid as the result of a national competition held by the Scottish Australian Heritage Council.He based his design on the warm colours of the 'outback' and the pattern of the tartan of Lachlan Macquarie.
