We are succeeding not by turning the back to other licensing communities or stakeholders, but contrariwise, by interacting with them. We have our differences and that’s cool, but we are all exploring right now how to deal with this.

I decided to engage with them because I respect their approach to openness and licensing despite our differences, and this is what we need right now in the AI context, we need cohesion on common pain points (e.g. how to license ML models being different artifacts to code).

I’ve been engaging with OSS folks and institutions such as OSI for some months now, I’ve been publicly discussing with OSI and CC at the same time on ML licensing, and chatted with FSFE or Ethical Source Initiative also on the topic.

OpenRAILs are not “anti” open source, they are simply not OSS, they are different from OSS licenses. With “Anti” OSS you are creating a misleading narrative, as the reader assumes the ones we promote OpenRAILs are vs OSS and @OpenSourceOrg definiton, that’s not the case.
I repeat: OpenRAIL licenses are explicitly anti open source, moralistic, narrow-minded, and they force anyone who re-uses or fine-tunes this model to implement a binding contract mechanism just to share what they have done 👎.

@PromptArtApp brings the possibility to use also v2, should this be understood as “reasonable efforts” by the licensor? Why not?.

Disagree, the SD 1.5 license states that users shall undertake “reasonable efforts” to use the latest version of the model. It does not state: “you must use the latest version of the model”.
Technically, this is forbidden by the SD 1.5 license. This is why we need true open source.
