First, Mary Trump is funny! She captures people in quick, memorable descriptions. On seeing the VP in the WH, for instance: "Mike Pence continued to lurk on the other side of the room with a half-dead smile on his face, like the chaperone everybody wanted to avoid." (2)

Can't believe I just noticed: The barcode strip on my copy of Trump's ART OF THE DEAL identifies it as "fiction."

The D’s “Karlan catastrophe” is not that it was mean, undignified or a display of boiling rage. It was all that...and more. It was thoroughly authentic, revealing in a split second the venom infusing the hearings and underscoring how little they have to do w/ other than #TDS .

This has the feel of a news clip that will be played again and again in the histories and documentaries of this crisis. In part because of it simplicity and directness, and in part because the answer to @jaketapper ’s final question seems blindingly clear:

. @jaketapper directly addresses Pres. Trump: “The American people ... need someone to explain what is going to be done to get us out of this. It’s a moment that requires leadership. It requires honest information. It requires empathy and it requires a plan. Do you have one?”
