@eoinmauricedaly Yeah, Ukraine was totally defenceless. A whole series of nations stepped in. It's still Ukraine doing the fighting still using much of its own equipment. 1) the threat is not hypothetical since it's literally happening and 2) nations are not defenceless unless by choice.

A minor issue the government is spending a lot of effort on though tbf I did hear from a defence committee member this morning saying that this is actually a huge issue for our sovereignty.
We don't ask for a referendum on Education, or Fisheries policies. Ridiculous that any government would call a plebiscite on so minor an issue. Foreign and defence policy should be normal functions of government, and not treated as radioactive waste, as @SocDems would prefer.
