7/8.Problem #5: In-person visa interviews have been almost entirely replaced with AI and automation. Solution #5: Canada should require in-person interviews for applicants & values-based screening. Just as 🇺🇸 requires interviews, 🇨🇦 should reintroduce the same standard for all.

4/8.Problem #2: Criminals don’t deport themselves. Solution #2: We need a serious, sustained effort to fill the short-staffing of CBSA, which needs at least 2,000 more front-line agents.

3/8.Problem #1: Under the law, a foreign national can be detained for public safety IF an officer decides to pursue detention. As per this article, many just aren’t. Solution #1: Detention should be automatic for serious offences, including terrorism & national security.
