As the sun sets and the first night of Chanukah begins, the thoughts of the entire Labour Party are with Jews in Britain, in Australia, and around the world.

4. The report sets out serious, tangible steps forward: re-engaging with SAFE and other European defence initiatives, strengthening civil and institutional exchanges through Civil Service secondments, EU Commission partnerships, and joint work on hybrid threats. 👇

3. We also need to challenge ourselves. Defence policy cannot be divorced from foreign policy. France has maintained a coherent strategic culture since 1957, consistently advocating for itself and shaping outcomes around that vision. The UK must now match that cultural confidence

2. Short-term industrial self-interest continues to trump collective security in Europe. Some of our partners need to be reminded that when this war spreads, it will not be industry shareholders on the front line, but their own men and women in uniform.
