Full overnight closure of Hwy. 1 at Rocky Creek (12 miles south of Carmel), will begin Sunday, July 27 at 10 p.m., with the highway scheduled to reopen Monday, July 28 at 6 a.m. Crews will deploy a crane across both lanes during closure to resupply seawall reconstruction project.

Crews at work 7 days a week and extended hours at Regent’s Slide. Full-scale excavation resumed mid-July utilizing both conventional and remote-controlled equipment. Crews continue to install shear dowels in the cut slope to provide immediate and long-term slope reinforcement.

🚧 UPDATE: FULL REOPENING OF HIGHWAY 1 AT ROCKY CREEK THIS EVENING 🚧 Great news! Highway 1 at Rocky Creek will fully reopen to two lanes after extensive emergency repairs and the construction of a viaduct on Monday, June 30 by 8 PM following a slip out in 2024. @CaltransHQ

Travelers headed northbound on US 101 thru Montecito will be diverted away from the current split lane configuration and be re-directed onto two new concrete pavement lanes. This traffic switch will occur during the overnight hours. A southbound traffic switch will occur in July.
