“Not much in the way of good housing news." That's our ED @raywlvca's assessment of @CAgovernor's January budget, which has no new funding for #AffordableHousing. We have work to do to ensure California communities can keep building affordable homes. https://t.co/Rsf0P9r5Jt

Newsom's administration forecast a "modest" $2.9 billion shortfall in the coming year, down sharply thanks to continuing windfalls from tech and AI stocks.

The #caleg missed an opportunity this year to advance a new #HousingBond, which is vital to keeping affordable housing production moving. Voters have made their priorities clear: A bond needs to be priority #1 in the next session. #HousingBond2026

Thank you, @GavinNewsom, for your ongoing commitment to fighting the #LosAngelesFires and preparing for the recovery ahead. Affordable housing providers are prepared to assist to ensure everyone impacted by this disaster has access to safe, affordable housing.
Goodbye, red tape. Through an executive order, we are making it easier for victims of the SoCal fires to quickly rebuild their homes and lives. We’re also extending key price gouging protections to help make rebuilding more affordable.

“We have more than 2.5M homes that we need to be planning for," says @CAbcsh's Tomiquia Moss. "When I think about examples of how we’re going to do it, I think of Sugar Pine Village." Proud to see @calhsng member #Related delivering #AffordableHousing where it's needed most.👍
Under @CAgovernor Newsom’s EO to develop housing on excess state land, Sugar Pine Village will grow to 248 affordable units in South Lake Tahoe. @CAbcsh & HCD joined @CalifDGS, Related & local officials for opening of first 68 homes. @cityofslt Read more: https://t.co/cf48RCRPDA

Thank you @GavinNewsom for adding your signature to #SB393! This legislation, authored by @Steve_Glazer, will help #AffordableHousing providers fight back against "bad faith" lawsuits brought against our projects. 👏👏👏
No more excuses. More housing. More accountability. More transparency. California is strengthening laws that address the housing & homelessness crisis, creating foundational changes that will build strong communities now and through the future.

🚨Research alert! Our new report finds there are over 46,000 new affordable homes stalled in California's development pipeline. These developments cannot begin construction b/c the public funding they need is not available. 🧵1/5 Full report here: https://t.co/NGtw6M5RhG

Key @CHPCNews finding: Although CA has doubled production of new #AffordableHousing in the last 5 years, the state is funding only 12% of what is needed to meet its housing goals. Meanwhile, housing production has fallen from its '22 peak due to declining state/local funding.👇
