Here are some helpful tips to stay safe in case you or a loved one loses power in the summer from our partners at @Readygov. Hot days like today are a reminder to be prepared and have a plan! 📝☀️.
Lost power due to a summer storm? Keep your freezers and refrigerators closed. A refrigerator will keep food cold for about 4 hours, and a freezer will stay cold for about 48 hours. To keep yourself cool, check with local officials to see if any cooling centers are open nearby.

A flash flood warning has been issued for parts of the state into this evening. Please be weather aware and stay alert. Listen to local officials and avoided flooded roadways if you come across any. Remember, turn around - don’t drown! 🚗🌊.

A Flood Watch is in effect for central and western CT. Heavy rainfall rates could bring flash flooding to parts of the state. Some thunderstorms are capable of producing a quick 2-4 inches of rainfall.

⚠️Flood Watches have been issued for the entire state, beginning at 2:00 today and continuing into early Wednesday morning. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall is possible. A heat advisory is also in effect so be alert today, monitor local alerts, stay cool and be prepared!.
