It’s been an incredible summer with this hard working crew full of awesomely diverse and kind folks! Got to celebrate them and the rest of the ARDEC farm crew with a handful (n=23) of pies and wings. Always grateful to lead this wheat breeding program. @coloradowheat @CSUAgSci

Plant breeding would be a whole lot easier if you selected for grain yield in a bubble, but what you end up selecting is a package of traits that collectively give you yield and hopefully stability and longevity for that variety.

A few last notes on the increases before the come out. We plant many more than we can handle, so a ton of data is analyzed and synthesized to decide what to harvest. One of the most nerve racking things about July for me. We will finish up harvest this week. @coloradowheat

The crew rescued a Swainson’s Hawk (I believe) from the headrow field yesterday and delivered it to the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program.
